| Elliska! You posted! I practically fell off my seat when I saw the alert. Made my day, it did. Granted, it took a minute to re-adjust to the jump in time but it's good to see old friends again :-) I enjoyed the start of it the most, I think, because it's always fun to see the adults teasing one another and of course Aradunnon is quite a character. I'm pretending I don't know what happens to him... The minute I heard about the river being flooded, though, I was bracing myself for a bit of divilment among the children. I enjoyed watching them nonetheless, even if it was never going to end well! It's fascinating to see how skilled they are. I like the mention too of how Legolas had to work to earn the rope. He amuses me actually - so mature on one hand about not taking the candy (I'd have taken it!) but giving the rope anyway and yet utterly disgusted by Maidhien and Galithil! Poor Galithil. Once again inadvertantly in a mess. Maybe he should give up promising to be responsible - it always backfires! So what happens next? :-) Author Reply: LOL! I was about as surprised as you. I need to just post or I'll not get it in at all, if you know what I mean. :-) Jumping back in the timeline is weird to me too. But there are a few younger Legolas stories that I wanted to post and a few adult ones that I doubt I'll post on their own, so this will be a good place to group shorter stories. I like the beginning of this too. I like Aradunnon's attitude. ;-) Legolas was making me laugh. It's hard for me to believe he really liked his cousin making friends (or whatever) with an elleth. They are already friends with Eirienil and Aewen, but they've never really noticed they are ellyth. And I think you're right about Galithil. Maybe he should try promising to be bad. | I was so excited to get the chapter alert for this! Then I read the info about when it was set, but didn't take it in, and it was like I was seeing ghosts. Sort of melancholy, really, knowing Aradunnon's fate before he does. I really liked the capable way Legolas and his cousins worked on their raft. Their skill seems like something kids in their situation could value and learn. Legolas's reaction to Galithil and Maidhien is quite funny. And age appropriate! Puke on lovey-dovey stuff. But Maidhien is right when she says it was nice of him to give the rope to Noruil. And you have to admire Thranduil for working to teach Legolas the value of things like rope and earn the right to have it. And even the use to which Noruil and Anastor put it doesn't negate Legolas's generosity. I had to laugh when Berior says not to take the rope back until he's had a turn. Poor Galithil. He's just sworn to be responsible and look what happens. Author Reply: :-) I glad to find time for a little creativity. I started the editing on this immediately after finishing the last story because I was missing Aradunnon already, so I know what you mean about ghosts. I was having a conversation with someone today about the skills even kids would have in Tolkien's world that no one has today. It would be cool to be as capable as these people (but modern conveniences are excellent too). I think Legolas would definitely learn the value of things in a place like Mirkwood. Puke on lovey-dovey stuff. LOL! Exactly. Little boys! Berior would be a fun kid to have a friend. Galithil, might be a little more dangerous. Poor kid spends a lot of time promising to be responsible and just blowing it for one reason or another. :-) Thanks so much for the review, daw! | |
