What an intriguing beginning! Poor little Estel, so sick, and Elrond, so worried! This is a very interesting idea of what could have been going on during that long ago visit by a wizard, 13 Dwarves and a hobbit. I loved the entwining of the wood-elves songs in with Elrond's worried thoughts-- an excellent device to show the contrast between what was seen by their guests and what was going on behind closed doors. Author Reply: Thank you! I'm glad you liked my use of the song. Guests are often unaware of the undercurrents of tension in the home in which they stay; it is the mark of a good host to keep them in blissful ignorance.
