A fascinating tale. Alas for the hearts lost to the maiden of the Sun!

Author Reply: Nobody is safe from the matters of the hearts. *nodnod* Not even the Maiar.

Aww, I think I'm as sad as Aracano that the tales of the sun and moon are over! I do hope Ilmare will get permission to talk more about them...

I'm glad that Celebrain has started to heal as well! She deserves some happiness...

Thank you for sharing, this chapter was delightful! :)

Author Reply: Oh, he will get some more stories, never fear! They're not leaving Tavrobel just yet.

I'm glad you still enjoy this tale, thanks for the review. :)

A lovely rendition of the making of the moon. Your description of the Rose of Silpion and the Ilsaluntë was most lyrical. I enjoyed this chapter very much and I'm glad to see Celebrían beginning to heal even though there are bound to be relapses until full healing is accomplished.

Author Reply: You cannot imagine the pain to rewrite the incredibly convulted descriptions of BoLT into a language that most people would understad and still not kill the mood of them! But again, perhaps you do. ;)

I'm glad you liked the chapter; I was afraid that it sounded a bit outdated. Anyway, we're heading back to Celebrían's own time from now on (well, with the occasional tale told on the way), and I'm mightily relieved, I must admit.

Thanks for reading and reviewing, I appreciate the support very much.

This may seem an odd review... it is to say that I haven't read the story. But this is because my own series has reached The West - the immigrants are trying to settle, and one of their points of reference is Celebrían - so I keep watching this growing, and promising myself that I will read it... later!

It is a carrot I dangle in front of myself, so to speak.

Author Reply: Oh, believe me, I know all too well what it's like. That's why I don't dare to get close to Larner's "Stirring Rings", although I lover her writing very much. But there's also the danger of being influenced, and that's better to avoid, if one can.

Now I'll have to read *your* story, as soon as this monstrosity is finished. You've made me very curious indeed - no pun intended. :)

Oh, how appropriate this conversation is! I find I enjoy it thoroughly, remembering how both daughter and son came to us one day to complain that we were favoring the other over each, at which time we called them together and indicated that it was obvious we were ignoring them equally, a distinction they didn't appreciate.

I've always suspected that there was some warning, perhaps from Lorien or Ulmo, indicating to Elwing that she should avoid allowing Maedhros and Maglor to take possession of the Silmaril, perhaps for their own sake. Certainly it appears that Earendil needed it in order to fulfil his own quest, so allowing those two to take it would have condemned the Free Peoples to greater problems in the long run. But certainly Morwinyon and Elros and Elrond had reason to feel abandoned by their fathers.

Author Reply: Yes, I know that in the greater context the Silmaril was needed. It still doesn't excuse Elwing leaving her little sons to the questionable mercy of the Kinslayers, though; especially as she ought to remember how her brothers fared.

But yeah, sibling rivalry is as old as Creation itself, I think.

And it did cheer me up. Thanks. Like Aracáno, I'm impatient to hear the rest of the story. The version of the story from Book of Lost Tales is so completely different from what eventually was written later on. It's interesting to see how different it is and at the same time recognize many of the same motifs that found their way into canon.

Author Reply: Well, I'm glad that the cheering you up part worked. I had so much pain with this chapter, small wonder it took twice the time than usual to get it done.

You are right: the BoLT version is very different, but - to be honest - I prefer its fairytale-like quality to the extreme dryness of the Silmarillion.

Aracáno (and you) will get the end of the story soon, I promise. I just had to get a different storyteller for that. ;)

Oh, I love Ilmare and Fionwe more and more each chapter they're in (please say they'll be in more!). I really want to hug Fionwe, it can't be easy for him at all. At least he has Ilmare - and Eonwe - to look after him and make sure he isn't lonely.

I'm very curious as to who Aracáno loves as well...

Looking forward to the next chapter! :)

Author Reply: Thank you! I'm very sorry for the delay, but the second half of the chapter simply didn't want to be written. I wanted it to be more than just some rewritten parts from BolT, hence the side tracks, but it wasn't easy.

Fionwe indeed has his sister to comfort him, although in my corner of the Ardaverse Eonwe has been sitting in Mandos since the War of Wrath, trying to deal with his own trauma, so he's not much of a help right now.

As for Aracáno - it will all be revealed in good time. ;)

Love this chapter! thank you. Someone to tell Maglor's famly how loved he was by elrond and how some people still were loyal to them.
I shoul say thank Fiondil as well, you are really inspired now

Author Reply: Yes, Fiondil's stories are a great inspiration - and so are his comments. :)

I'm glad you liked the new chapter. I wanted to do the Maglor thing for a long time, and this seemed the best opportunity to actually do so.

Next we get the tale of the making of the Moon, I promise.

An interesting chapter on Maglor and the relationships between the various parties, past and present.

By the way, you have Celebrían say that Curufin almost abducted Celeborn, but I think you meant his son, Celebrimbor. *grin*

I was very happy to see this chapter now before I go back into hospital. Thanks for posting (though I know you didn't do it just for me *grin*).

Author Reply: Oh, I'd have readily put up the new chapter just for you, you know. :) I wish you a quick and complete recovery.

Thanks for spotting the mistake. The Professor's name-giving methods are maddening: the names either begin the same way or end the same way. Grrrr!

Hmm, another interesting chapter! I love how you're mixing all the histories of the different Ages together and giving some new viewpoints on them.

Poor Morwinyon, he must have had a difficult life, but I do like his mother very much - I hope Celebrían becomes good friends with them, and can share Elrond's memories of Maglor with them. :)

I'm looking forward to the next chapter!

Author Reply: Morwinyon certainly had a difficult life, but I have the impression that he almost enjoys the role of the victim. He definitely needed a wake-up call.

The funny thing is, I never intended to write him this way. These characers have a life on their own and regularly take over the plotline. ;))
