Ooh, very creepy ... but at least Sarra was a friendly, caring ghost. I don't blame Elrohir one bit for not wanting his coin back. The story made me shiver, and not because of the blizzard. Well done!

This was just wonderful! I love the idea that Sarra was still caring for strangers lost in the snow. :) And the idea of something like this happening to one of the Sons of Elrond was great! I shivered at your description of the blizzard, and actually had to turn on my space heater as I read. Thank you for sharing this wonderful story!

Oh, heavens, Jay.... do you realize I held my breath through the whole first half of the story, until Arathorn got home safely? Good thing you gave me a bit of a break, or I'd be turning blue now.... But, of course, it didn't last long! Well, this was deliciously ghostly, Jay... but not creepy, at least not until they returned to the falling-down house.... This reminds me of the legends of women who get flat tires in the middle of the night, in the middle of nowhere (before cellphones LOL!)... and men who stop to change their tire... but never speak a word, nor ever get their all-white clothes dirty.... and then just disappear.... Your story is a Middle-earth version of an urban legend! Anyway, well done! It left me very glad that Elrohir had someone to look out for him. ;-) - Barbara

I remember reading this on your LJ, Jay. I enjoyed it then and did so again reading it here.

Oh Jay, this was wonderful. Poor Sarra, doomed to stand guard for a husband who will never return. But how lucky for Elrohir that she was there for him in his time of need. Your description of the cold was so real I felt myself shivering and wanted nothing more than a great cup of hot chocolate! Thanks for getting my morning off to a good start. Ces
