Why do I have this funny feeling that see Lemon Pies in Frodo's future? ;oD

Oh, this was wondering m'dear!! I also found your take on Aragorn's ablities w/athelas very believable and true as well. Did you come up w/that rhyme that Lord Elrond taught Aragorn or is that in Unfinished Tales or other of the Professor's writings? Regardless, it works and thought it would make for quite the reminder of what Aragorn had to do w/this plant to treat somone suffering w/The Black Breath.

So glad you posted this before I take off tomorrow for Skate Canada and Ottawa. Mind you, tomorrow's just as far to my sister's, but it's still the start of the journey!!

I can't wait. I'll be thinking of you while watching. :o)

Author Reply: Thank you, Tigger! The rhyme is mine, as is the quote from Gandalf. It was a challenge weaving my own ideas into the Professor's tantalizing bits and pieces about athelas and Aragorn's abilities.

And I'll be thinking of you! I hope you have a wonderful, memorable birthday, full of fun and love and terrific skating. *hugs you*

LOL I love Frodo's response to the issue of lemons.

I've decided that this story has to continue on and on and on and just keep having more new chapters. It's too much fun for it to end. Seriously, I am really enjoying this one.

Author Reply: Thank you so much, GW. There are few compliments sweeter than a reader wanting a story to go on and on and on!

A warm, comfortable moment as we see healer healing, and the healing help the healer heal himself, allowing himself to heal further! Ah, Frodo--always taking responsibility upon himself, even for those things that he can't truly be responsible for. And love the twins finding the athelas for Aragorn!

Author Reply: This chapter emerged from a lot of research and pondering. It was very interesting to try to figure out how the healer heals. :)

Oh, I can think of so many ways Frodo can enjoy lemons! Lemon Merangue Pie for one, lemon drops, lemon bars, lemon marmalade, lemon chicken the list is endless!
Silly Hobbit not to like lemons!
More please,
Lynda

Author Reply: Aragorn has some ideas, never fear! I adore lemons, yumm.

Wonderful! I liked Aragorn's description of using his gift and I'm glad Frodo's heart is lightened.

Frodo, there really are some wonderful ways to use lemons :-)

Well done as always, shirebound!

Author Reply: Thank you so much, Pearl. I thought about this chapter for at least a month before I started writing it!

That was a lovely, clever explanation of how Aragorn actually "calls" for people lost in the Black Breath... very convincing. And the end of the chapter, with Frodo thinking about how to properly feed Aragorn and get a fine breakfast himself made me smile. But your delightful tales always make me smile.

Author Reply: Thank you so much! I've been thinking about this chapter for a long time, and hoped I'd be able to explain things in a way that made sense.

*smiles back*

“Why does everyone think I had too much to drink?” Frodo grumbled.

LOL!!! I think this question needs no answer ;-)

I'm glad that Aragorn was able to convince Frodo that he (Aragorn) made all his decisions of his own free will and that he regrets none of them. On the contrary, he's looking forward to be king and to take over all the responsibilities.

But he did not answer Frodo's question!

“But did you exhaust yourself, and nearly die?” Frodo asked anxiously, unable to let it go.
“That is what you did, Frodo. And I honor you for it.”

The true answer would have been "Yes".

But, if Aragorn had asked Frodo this question the answer would have been the same! In that respect those two are much alike.

Last but not least, I'm wondering how Aragorn will manage to make Frodo like lemons!

Author Reply: Aragorn didn't exactly answer the question, did he? But I think he was probing for what was really bothering Frodo, and it finally came out.

LOL, those pesky lemons! :)

Maybe if you tried some sugar with the lemonade, Frodo, it would taste better. :) How nice that they had that talk - one less burden to carry - and the guilt of claiming the Ring hasn't kicked in yet.

Namarie, God bless, Antane :)

Author Reply: Frodo will find a way to enjoy this strange fruit Sam loves so much, never fear. :)

Touche!!!

The end bit with everyone being content with their own decisions saddened me, though, because the price Frodo paid--though he wouldn't have had it any other way unless he could have just held out against the Ring a little longer--was too great for him to stay in Middle-Earth.

Ah, well. He doesn't quite know that yet.

And the ubiquitous lemons! *snerk*

Author Reply: Yes, he doesn't quite know that yet. It will be many months before Frodo feels the first return of pain and anxiety. In the meantime, Cormallen is a place of healing, and Minas Tirith will be a city of wonder and honor for the hobbits.

Ah, those lemons. What fun. :)

I found it interesting that Frodo might feel Aragorn would "have no peace" if called upon to heal constantly. Yet, what could be more wonderful than to know that you have the power to do so much good for so many in your lifetime. I can't think of very many things that would make me happier.

I wonder if Frodo would like sweet lemon bars. Hee.

Author Reply: Frodo fears that Aragorn will continue to pour so much energy into healing that he'll once again grow weary and ill. Knowing that the sons of Elrond (two notable healers) will be on hand to help is a great relief for him.
