Keep Him Secret, Keep Him Safe  by shirebound 23 Review(s)

“See?” Sam said. “Strider thinks it’s wonderful.”

“Strider is ill,” Frodo said firmly.

This is delightful! And I love how busy everybody is worrying about everybody else.

Oh, and another favorite line: “It’s not my place to say, but Strider should be resting more and talking less,” Sam said, shaking his head in disapproval. He held out the spoon so Frodo could taste the stew. “I’ve not heard so many questions from one person in all my life.”

“You’re right, Sam,” Pippin agreed.

You have a wonderful slightly biting humor in your tone. And though I can't think of the word (it isn't quite irony) the idea of Pippin agreeing that it's amazing how many questions one can ask is just hilarious!

Great chapter, Janet!

Author Reply: Thank you for highlighting two of my favorite passages! Yes, turnabout is fair play. Now that the hobbits are the ones doing the tending, they're the ones amused by the persistence and curiosity of their 'patient'.

Loved this chapter where we see the hobbits caring for dear Aragorn and Aragorn being so curious about his ailments and= such-- i'm glad that Elladan is there to carry Aragorn to the privy--
the h/c is wonderful in here! =) Lemon-tea-- sounds good to me. :)
I'v been following this story and enjoy it, SB!

Author Reply: Thank you, Peri An. This is fun to write, and I'm happy you're enjoying it. :)

What a wonderful chapter, dear! Gimli made stocked beds??? Great idea...
Hartwarming, lovingly and simply gorgeous.

Thank you, lovey!

The hobbits are doing a splendid job of guarding Aragorn. I love Sam's enjoyment of the 'lemon water'. That's great. Usually it's one of the others that gets caught up with some type of food or drink and it's fun to see Sam enjoying himself a bit. Gimli needs to come to my house when he's finished and build things here. I need stuff! LOL
Looking forward to more and enjoying every word!

Author Reply: Aragorn has spent so much of his life guarding hobbits, it's fun to turn the tables a little. Gimli has a little free time next month, so he's going to squeeze you in between rebuilding the gates of Minas Tirith and colonizing the glittering caves.

I'm so glad you're enjoying this. :)

Ah, so THAT'S how the practice of putting lemon in tea began, did it? Heh! Poor Frodo--having to dodge lemons and deal with stubborn friends who happen to be king and Dwarves who seem to be made to be constantly constructing something--or destructing something--or chopping something, and wood will do when there are no orc necks to hew....

Love the bunk beds and the decision to keep Frodo on the bottom bunk.

And Frodo's rear is still sore? Heh!

Author Reply: Thank you, Larner. Our resourceful gardener is quick to pick up on any new innovations and flavor combinations, much to Frodo's dismay.

wood will do when there are no orc necks to hew

Very poetic! :)

“What’s wrong, Mr. Frodo?” Sam asked.

“Nothing,” Frodo smiled. “Sorry, Sam. I know you wouldn’t put any lemon in here.”

“In tea!” Sam said with delight. “Sir, what a wonderful idea!”

ROTFL!!! Poor Frodo! That was not what he intended. But maybe he can be persuaded to taste HIS new invention. And then he'll like it :)

It was very nice of Merry and Pippin to give Frodo the bottom bed. But will they feel comfortable up there? I have my doubts.

And I hope Elladan will give Strider enough answers to make him relax again. He needs it.

Author Reply: Thanks, Andrea! It's such a pleasure to give the hobbits something *really* dangerous to worry about, like stealthy lemons ending up where they shouldn't be. This chapter was really a hoot to write.

Ah, Sam and I share a love of lemons. This was delightfully amusing!

Author Reply: Thank you! Lemon is one of *my* favorite tastes (and smells) also. Poor Frodo is just going to have to get used to it. :)

Lemon, in tea, now there's a novel idea! Well they are already putting honey in, so why not lemon?
So Gimli invented bunk beds did he, smart dwarf, if he builds some for himself and Legolas who gets the top bunk?
I think I know just how Aragorn feels, totally washed out and in need of some TLC. I agree with Samom if Aragorn wants to wear pants, let him!
Hope he feels better soon.
More please,
Lynda

Author Reply: The image of Gimli and Legolas in bunk beds makes me grin.

"Samom" is certainly the voice of reason in a very confusing situation, isn't he? What a dear hobbit.

Hope *you* get some TLC soon, Lynda!

Oh, lovely, lovely, lovely! That argument about the use and taste of lemons made me laugh out more than once. Just what I needed right now. And what a charming Pippin! Thank you so much, Janet.

Author Reply: Wheee, glad this gave you a giggle. My brother used to watch in amazement as I would eat lemons like any other fruit.

What a lovely, sweet chapter! Gimli made them bunk-beds!

Everyone looking out for everyone else, and lots of fluff. Just right!

Author Reply: Thanks, Pebbles. Comfort and fluff... *happy sigh*
