This was a really great start! I liked your brief glimpse of Ecthelion's character and how you handled a young Boromir. I look forward to more of this! Author Reply: Thank you for reading, sorry it has taken me so long to say so! Ecthelion seems to have never had much "screen time" and yet he's pretty key to how things develop. It always made sense to me that he would have had as much input as possible into little Boromir's life. | |

Beautiful gap-filler. I loved the part when he tried to hold the sword. How very difficult. And Denethor's helping him replace it and the oath taking. Beautiful and touching that Ecthelion turned to Denethor to have Boromir finish the oath to him. And the last part - heart-breaking and yet oh so Boromir! Author Reply: I liked writing Denethor as much as Boromir here. I imagine he was as proud and excited as Boromir that his father saw the child's worth at such an early age -- though he doesn't show it! I always think of the phrase "proud and stern of glance" when I reread that part where the 10 year old Boromir is challenging Sauron. Even though he is young, he is still Boromir through and through!
