A Partnership in Villainy   by Llinos 18 Review(s)

Ah, Merry is at that age when he thinks he's all grown up, isn't he? I do love the way Pearl is trying to get Merry to spend time with Pippin. She knows how much it will mean to her little brother. Pippin has lots of protectors. i am enjoying this very much.

I love the dragon. Very entertaining idea. I can just see Pippin in his little hat. Sucha darling image. This is a lovely story.

Pippin is a real schemer! I loved how he rushed Merry into getting rid of the evidence!

Merry's instant decision to shoulder the blame to protect Pippin was terrific and made me think of adult Merry, who would willingly give up his life to protect his younger cousin. The way that both of them stand up for one another is wonderful!

I *love* your young Merry and little Pip! You write them as so age appropriate, not just as individual characters, but in their relationship with each other. I think that the way you are able to do that is just fantastic. That isn't an easy thing to do and you manage it flawlessly!

More stories please!!

The way that you described the doling out of the chokolit had me holding my breath that there would be enough to go around! I felt so badly for Merry, and agree with Pippin that Pervinca should have been more careful.

Merry was very much the young gentlehobbit about it, and I loved the way that Pippin understood that Merry was just putting on a brave face. Even though Pippin is so tiny here he already knows Merry very well. I loved Pippin's fierceness on Merry's behalf!

Pippin's mangling of words is great! And it isn't overdone either, you do it just enough for it to be sweet!

I really like how Merry slips on occasion in his attempts to appear to be grown-up. I think that is very realistic, exactly how a child his age would act, especially one that folks have so many expectations of. I like the way that the foreign cousins have Merry feeling a bit out of his depth, feeling he needs to impress them. The fact that these relatives from far away appear to be so exotic gives a very clear picture of just how sheltered and unworldly Shirefolk are.

The love that Merry has for Pippin is obvious, whether Merry himself yet understands the depth of it, and Pippin's adoration for Merry is perfectly conveyed!

I love how in this story too, as in Merry Yule and Orange Pips, Pippin's growth is mentioned! It would be a *very* important issue for such a little fellow, especially one that is so eager to catch up with the older cousin he worships! You have captured Pippin's excitement wonderfully, and Merry's casual superiority at being an age he thinks so very mature.

I love all of the detail; everything is so clearly described that I can see the scenes perfectly in my mind!

This is such a great chapter! I love the care that Pearl takes with tiny Pippin and I can just see him all bundled up in his sweet little pixie hood. You captured his little child *voice* so well! Thluggul is a wonderful creation, and very believable - the tradition is so recognisable to our own beliefs and yet so unique and clearly a part of Shire mythology.

Another of my favourite stories! I loved when this memory appeared in Recaptured! and I am so pleased that you have posted it here, just in time for Yule!
