Elf, Interrupted: Book One: Glorfindel Redux  by Fiondil 12 Review(s)

Just wanted you to know that I find this elf Highly Suspicious. I’d be interested in the meaning of his name, which I see you do not provide. [Pause for detour to various web sites.] Okay...?

Ah, rereading I see that Glorfindel raised an eyebrow. Quenya not exactly being my forte (!), that gives me more confidence in my translation. If I'm right, it *is* an odd name.

As you were so early posting this, I had not written down any formal predictions as to what would happen, other than that *someone* would rescue poor Glorfindel (since he'd be in no condition to get himself off the mountain).

It's way too soon to make formal predictions about how this particular subplot will end, but I am entertaining some amusing notions related to this elf and to Glorfindel's arrival in Vanyamar. Which are probably wrong.

Author Reply: Ah, Highly Suspicious... Well, the name might be a clue, but I will not reveal its meaning until after Glorfindel is safely in Vanyamar. *lol* I will give you a clue, though: it's the Quenya equivalent of a Sindarin name that can be found in LOTR.

The Hunt and its aftermath will take up the next two chapters, then we will return to Glorfindel and all will be revealed. So in the meantime, make as many formal predicitions as you please. *grin*

So Glorfindel wound up in a cave with a hermit elf? I never expected that:)

I really loved your description of Manwe and Varda's mansion.

Author Reply: You should expect the unexpected with me by now, don't you think? *lol* I'm glad you liked my description of Ilmarin, or at least the entrance courtyard. Since Glorfindel has never been there I needed to make it recognizable to him, perhaps from descriptions others have given him of the main gate and courtyard. Until he saw the eagles and the statue of Varda he probably didn't even wonder about where he might actually be, too wrapped up in his own pain and misery to think that far ahead.
