Wow, and here I was thinking it would be an encounter with Elves. Nothing so friendly, I fear. I was actually in the Redwoods just a few weeks ago. I saw quite a few that could have been Ents, and one or two with suggestions of Old Man Willow, but I managed to escape. Now I'm thankful that I did! Very nicely done, and the last line just ratchets the whole tale up to another level. Beautiful work. Author Reply: A visit to the Muir Woods inspired this tale. Ents and Huorns appeared in abundance. I'm glad you liked the story, and thanks for reviewing. G.A.

So, Tom's in the forests north of San Francisco, eh? And some children will NOT listen no matter what. Now--where's Andy's brother? Will we find out what happened to him, and if his own adventure brings him to a better end than the beginning promises? Author Reply: Don't know about that! Jimmy's fate may remain unknown....as a warning to others. G.A.

Tom's in Yosemite?! *makes vacation plans* That explains why he seems so familiar: he was that forestry-seminar leader back in the '70s! And he's so right about those trails. *love Tom Bombadil* What an adventure! But what happened to Jimmy? Maybe Tom'll find him and help him learn a few important lessons? Author Reply: Actually, Tom is hanging out in Marin County, where the Coastal Redwoods are. If Jimmy is lucky, he'll end up a Ranger apprentice...maybe. Thanks for reviewing! G.A.

Ooh - creepy! But that's what happens when travellers ignore old Tom. But what happened to the other boy? He's a typical sullen teenager, but doesn't deserve Old Man Willow. Author Reply: My muse hasn't told me his fate yet, so we may never know.... G.A.

Oops. Jimmy should have stayed with his mother. Well, he wanted demons...His mother's better off without him, anyway. Very good, funny with a vein of real scariness. Author Reply: "Better off without him"? My, you have a hard heart! Perhaps Alcatraz would have been better, though! G.A.
