At least Pippin's following healer's orders, which he needed desperately to do.

Author Reply: LOL! Yes, exactly! And in typical Pippin fashion too--wholeheartedly tackling that nap. ;-)

I can certainly see the Hobbit determination in poor Merry, and the fact that Frodo's own will would be reflected in this Brandybuck's face at that moment.

No, the Hobbits aren't going to be ignored by the Nazgul now, are they? And we must be glad Frodo and Sam (and Gollum) reached the Sammath Naur when and as they did.

An interesting movie-verse AU incident to consider. Am looking forward to reading more.

Author Reply: Thanks, Larner, for faithfully reviewing every chapter of this fic! Of course, we both have Marigold to thank for inspiring me to explore the movie-verse for a while...

BTW, I'm glad that you agree with me that Merry might look like Frodo (especially in a movie-verse fic, when their actors look really NOTHING alike)...but there's an expression that I imagine they both might share....that determination, you know. Brave spirits. :-)

Great story. I loved the way you brought elements of the book into the movie action - the troll, and Gimli spotting hobbit feet. Nice blend of action and emotion, too, and excellent writing.

Favourite line: "Pippin’s breath hitched, once, and then his and Merry’s voices raised as one, yells that weren’t words at all, but battle cries ripped from their throats, forming an assent deeper than civilised speech: Yes! For Frodo! as they raced after their king." Very powerful

Author Reply: Thank you so much for your review! And I'm so glad you picked out a line I'd thought was just "a description to ease the scene transition" as your favorite...there's something nice about being reminded that even those can be necessary, even powerful.

I don't usually read movie-verse stories but this one was good.

Author Reply: Thank you for your review! I'm glad you gave it a chance, even though it is movie-verse. ;-) I too usually read book-verse stories myself, but I do like movie-verse stories that find a way to bring in as much book-stuff as possible that had been left out, a blending of the worlds, I guess (and that's what I tried to do here!).

Oooo, ooo, am so glad to see this! (Though I have absolutely no time to read; didn't even glance over the chapter, no, just scrolled right to the bottom and hit "Leave Review".

But this is going to the top of my "must read" list, so if all goes well you'll hear from me sometime this week.

No more fanfic? Let it never be!

(p.s. I want an autographed copy of that novel, mind.)

Author Reply: LOL! It's a deal. You'll get that copy if I ever FINISH (I'm lucky I've got a definite April due date because i'm such a perfectionist--I wouldn't let anyone see it until i'd rewritten it 10 times otherwise) and then if any publishing company actually accepts it! ;-)

Thanks for your "miraculous" speed-demon review--it's great to get a vote of confidence before you've even read a word! :-D (When I saw that message in my inbox, I knew you couldn't have read it that fast...though the "instant feedback" thing does wonders for my ego.)
