The Hidden Days of Healing  by Linda Hoyland 42 Review(s)

Hmm; things go from bad to worse, it seems. Hopefully the mysterious rider is someone who can help - perhaps Gandalf or one of the Elf-twins?

Everything goes to h*ll in a handbasket when Aragorn takes ill, evidently, poor fellow.

All will soon be revealed.
I suppose it is all too clear, how much I love Aragorn as without him, nothing goes right !

Raksha's right. Trouble seems to have decided who its victims are. Everybody in that room seems to hesitate now before doing anything.

Aragorn was acting kind of wierd at the beginning...but I guess that's what anyone would say if they thought they were about to die...

"Tell Arwen that I loved her and am sorry that I..."

That IS what anyone would do. They would hand the "responsibility" of telling someone that they loved him/her to someone else instead of saying themselves...well but they were dying and so one couldn't expect TOO much...

And Legolas must have been pretty sure that the king-of-Gondor-to-be would survive if he told him to tell Arwen the message himself...

After the sons of Elrond arrived Gimli seems to retain his I-hate-elves attitude before he met Galadriel. He seems to be angry at everything they same, though we all know that it is just out of concern for Aragorn. It is quite something that the two elves haven't lost their patience with him. After all, he IS Gimli.

It seems to me that the journey to Ithilien won't be easy at all.

Good luck in finishing your story!

I think Legolas tells Aragorn to tell arwen himself as he is loath to accept that Aragorn could die.

Apart from Legolas and Galadriel, I don't know if Gimli likes Elves as a whole, at least not yet,and he must feel very frustrated that the twins are not helping Aragorn.

You are quite right, the journey will be far from easy !

Uh-oh, things look bad for everyone. Pippin needs a grief counselor, Sam and Frodo need a doctor, and "Doctor" Aragorn needs an E.R.! Maybe the Eagles can fetch Elrond...

Angst all round, and very entertaining.

Author Reply: Many thanks for your much appreciated review.I certainly plunged into the deep end with angst writing, didn't I ?A pity the eagles seem to have left for the time being.

Oh, this is so wonderful to find it here! It's one of the most lovable and best written stories I know. Not only because of its style but because of its deep insight into the characters. Enjoyable ever and again!

Timmy :)

Author Reply: Thank you so much for your much appreciated review.I'm thrilled you have such a high opinion of my first LOTR story !I hope you will enjoy it more here, as I have polished it now I've had more practise !

Hmmmmm...you certainly do have a good imagination...the reader would certainly be able to picture the agony that all three Hobbits must have been feeling, though each because of a different reason. The healing part...was that from your imagination, or was this in the extended version of the movie? You see, I only have the ones shown in the films, and so I miss a lot of the footage that the extended version has.

It wouldn't be very hard for Aragorn to collapse anyways after willing himself into three exhausted and near-point death Hobbits. It was surprising he even got through Frodo, who was the nearest dying one.

How long are you going to make this story?

Author Reply: Many thanks for your much appreciated review.
Neither Tolkien's book, nor the films show anything from the time to Hobbits are rescued to when they wake up, which for some reason annoyed me.For that reason, I started writing LOTR fanfiction to fill in the gap !
Gandalf says
At length Gandalf rose. ‘The hands of the King are hands of healing, dear friends,’ he said. ‘But you went to the very brink of death ere he recalled you, putting forth all his power, and sent you into the sweet forgetfulness of sleep.
which gave me the idea for Aragorn's collapse, thought that is my own imagination.

Author Reply: PS, this isn't a very long story and I hope to complete it it by April 8th.

Come and slap the future king, sons of Elrond! He needs to realise that he has to keep enough back to help the sick again later! Good thing he was there to keep the hobbits fighting for survival, though.

The sons of Elrond are appearing in the next chapter,so you gessed well !

I read this two years ago Linda and still remember it which is quite an accolade considering how much I read. It is great and I am looking forward to re-meeting the rest.

Author Reply: Many thanks for your much appreciated review and very kind words.I am amazed that you should have remembered my first attempt at LOTR fanfiction !I hope that you will find this version a trifle more polished,as I am trying to edit out the errors I made in the past and link it better with my other stories.I had intended this originally as my one and only LOTR Fanfic.

I enjoyed this very much. I like the fact that you are showing Aragorn's struggles with all of the stress that he has upon him and the effort that he is having to put into the healing as one wounded hobbit after another comes under his care.

Author Reply: Many thanks for your much appreciated review.I wanted to show just how noble Aragorn is and the cost of his dtermination to save the Hobbits.

Let me just say I am very interested in this Fanfiction.
I just came across this site and your fic was the most recently updated/posted so I thought I'd give you a try.
Though I will admit I don’t usually read the "general" type of fic I am a slash fan...I know lots of fanfiction writers look down on that but hey, if it's written good then why not? Right? But anyway I thought I’d try some general fic on for size and I think it fits just right!
By the way I am a HUGE Frodo fan so the more of him the better! :)
I am looking forward to the next update.

Author Reply: Many thanks for your much appreciated review.I fear this is probably the worse of my stories as it was my first LOTR one but am glad you are enjoying it.
I promise there will be plenty more of Frodo in the story.
