I read the entire non-slash version of Ring Around the Merry yesterday. It took me just about all day. I guess I'm sort of cruel, but I was really glad to see Merry get a taste of his own medicine. I just hope that the change in him is one that will make him back into the old Merry. And I hope that poor Frodo can return to his old self, too. I'm a little worried about Sam with the ring, though. Thanks for updating so quickly. Will this story be as long as RATM? Oh, also, I am enjoying the quotes from the book and movie that you are throwing in. I find myself wanting to watch the movies and read all the books again to find where the quotes come from! Author Reply: So glad we were able to entertain you for the entire day! I hope you have time to look at the illustrations on the official web page (see author notes). Thanks for letting us know what you think too. It means the world! hugs! emma

In spite of the graphic nature of this chapter, it is gratifying to see Merry getting his comeupance. Thanks for posting this story here too. Couple of notes - there's a large section in the middle that looks like it's in italics and shouldn't be. You might want to check it. Also, I'd consider editing the prelude. My guess is folks who are reading the story here aren't likely to be interested in the slash version. You also might want to check with Nilmandra how she feels about you linking to it from here. Perhaps cut it to a simple link to your main site? Just suggesting. Hmmm... yes. Angst for breakfast. Yum!

Merry deserves it if anyone does, but am glad he wishes to spare Frodo. Although to see his tormenter get what's coming to him may help him waken properly after all. Author Reply: It does! I am glad this story is getting better! The betas and I really working on giving this part of the story a feeling of movement and learning fromt hings we wanted to improve from part one. And it will even come out with a happy ending! thanks for reviewing.

Poor Strider, not knowing quite what to expect of these two hobbits; and Frodo beginning to realize what's going on and has happened, but still damaged enough to need to hide away for a time.

You have done well with your betas, I'll have you know, and the second story is much better because it appears to have a point and isn't relying strictly on Frodo-torture for its draw. Merry is reaping what he's sowed, and is beginning to realize juat what he's done to Frodo. Nice to see the moments of Frodo beginning to return briefly before disappearing again into the secret place where he's learned to hide.

Well, that answers the question of what happened to Fatty. Now, how did he get to Rivendell?
