Oh how I loved Aragorn's chat w/Merry. He was right. Even though the majority of them had thought about the choice when it came, Aragorn realized that choice had already been made. To follow Frodo to whatever end. Good old dependable Merry realizing exactly why Boromir was watching Frodo. Not as Frodo, but as the Ringbearer. And that brings us to another conspiracy of love (love that term BTW), to keep an eye on Boromir for Frodo's sake. Looking forward to the next part. :o)

Ooh, young hobbits in thoughtful mood and growing up soo fast are just too lovable! What a choice for each of the Fellowship and yet no choice really. Each does what he has to and honest choices are rewarded.

Another lovely chapter. I appreciate the way the hobbits are considered equally in the Fellowship in terms of making decisions. Pippin IS growing up, and I like the way you show Merry's mind always thinking through plans (yeah, why DON'T they try to get the Eagles to transport the Ring?! Only Gandalf knew.)

Another lovely chapter! Aragorn's gentle interaction with Merry, reminding him that there are multiple options available - and lovely interaction between Merry and Pippin. Great idea about the Eagles that Pippin had!

Merry sighed. "You're growing up so fast, Pip, it's hard to keep up." Oh, I love that sentence! Pippin is really a wonder - even to Merry. "If only one of the eagles could fly Frodo to the mountain..." Now, that's a thing I've actually wished for myself. Unfortunately most aims are not so easily achieved.

So sweet of Sam to try to make Pippin comfortable, and of Frodo to be concerned about Boromir. Love that movie Boromir, he's a dear, isn't he? I didn't like him so much in the book.

What wonderful moments you had again in this chapter. That last bit with Merry musing on the way things were was great. The exchanges between Merry and Strider and Merry and Pippin were lovely. I also really enjoyed just that little moment when Boromir moved Pippin to the boat. That was a Pippinhealers delight.:) Can't wait for the next chapter. Garnet Took.

It's good to see Merry and Pippin taking their upcoming decision seriously. Merry is an adult, and Pippin nearly so -- neither of them are bumbling idiots, and I love to see them shown as thinking logically about a situation and deciding what to do about it. They're kind and perceptive, but unfortunately their choice will be made for them. I wonder what it is with characters wanting to hide injury. I see it all the time. That's not smart, and Boromir ought to know that. Even if it's a little thing, he should at least mention it in case the wound gets infected or something. Or they have to fight and he's suddenly hampered by an injury Aragorn doesn't know about.
