On Border Patrol  by Manderly 132 Review(s)

What a nice ending, Manderly. I could feel how slow and weak Legolas felt. You did a very nice job of conveying that. I liked the talk between Legolas and Feren. Nope, Legolas doesn't quite get it yet that he takes orders whether he approves of them or not. Feren was kind and wise at this point when he didn't get upset or say anything about it. Of course, Legolas will hear what his commander has to say at a later date, I'm sure.

This was a delightful story. I hate to see it end, but that just sets me up to look forward to the next one.

Thanks for sharing this with us.

Karen

Author Reply: Legolas has some way to go yet. I don't want him to mature too quickly on me and become sensible. That wouldn't leave me much to write about. It's always more fun to write about a reckless Legolas!

Like you said, Feren is biding his time. He is now being the concerned older brother, but later I am sure he will play the role of a stringent commander. If I were Legolas, I'd play the sick elf for as long as I can.

Thank you very much for your kind words. It's kind of sad for me to see the story end too, but there's always a next time!

Thanks again, Karen!

Ahh, it just made my night to see an update on this story! A gem! I loved how Legolas had to tackle his fear of humans, can we be expecting a dwarf related story coming soon? Please? And what about a reunion between Legolas and his new mortal friends? I loved this story very much and can not wait to see what you come up with next.

Author Reply: A dwarf story? I have briefly thought about one, but can't seem to get it going coherenly. I will have to work harder on it, I guess.

I am glad you liked the story and I thank you for reading and reviewing!

"You scared a millennium off my life, bratling."

"I do my best."

I think this is the point where we know that Legolas really will be all right -- and not just physically. It was reassuring to hear a bit of that sort of teasing return.

Thank you for the story, Manderly. I enjoyed reading it, especially the part where Legolas learns new lessons about Men.

Author Reply: Yes, I think Legolas will be fine. How can he not be with his entire family brooding over him? It will be just a matter of time before he gets restless for more adventure.

You are very welcome! I am very glad that you liked the story and thank you for reading it and for your reviews! They mean a lot to me!

Looks like the entire family is slowly getting over its collective stroke upon seeing Legolas come home. There's nothing like learning that a wounded younger sibling will recover. The whole time I was reading this, I was remembering the time my little sister was attacked by a dog on her way home from a friend's house. She ran home bleeding and screaming, and I think I screamed almost as loud as she did.

I wonder if it would make Thranduil and the older brothers feel any better to know that Legolas can't die because he will be needed later on in life so that Elrond can send him on a suicide mission to Mordor. Probably not. . .

This was a great story, and I really enjoyed reading it.

Author Reply: Collective stroke? LOL! I suppose that is a very apt description of the family. There is something about younger siblings that brings out the protective side in all of us, I think. If my little sister was hurt like yours, I'd be doing plenty of screaming too!

If Thranduil ever catches wind of what Elrond has in store for his baby, he'd probably lock up Legolas for good and set the older brothers to guard over him. Other that, or he'd lead a war party against poor Elrond!

Thank you for reading this story and thank you for all your reviews!

Great chapter! I really get the feeling of family in this last chapter. I really enjoyed your story and I'm sad to see it end. I look forward to reading more of your stories in the future.

Author Reply: I'm sad to see it end too as this story has been my companion for a few months now. I guess I better start thinking about the next one.

Thank you for reading!

Lovely finish, Manderly. I thought you did particularly well in capturing Legolas's confusion and weakness as he awakens. And Tavaro was a breath of fresh air in the sick room.

Thank you for this story. I enjoyed reading it.

Author Reply: I couldn't let the story end without bringing Tavaro for at least a token appearance. And like you said, the sick room needed a breath of fresh air and who better to provide it than him?

I'm glad you liked the story and thank you for all your reviews!

*tear tear* I am very sad to see this tale end. It was a wonderful tale and beautifully written. Great job!

Author Reply: I'm rather lost too now that this story is finished. It's been occupying much of my spare time over the last couple of months.

Thank you for reading it!

Aw, I loved the ending! I'm so glad Legolas is ok and everything worked out. I'm looking forward to reading more of your stories in the future.

Author Reply: Thank you! I reworked this last chapter a few times and still wasn't completely happy with it, so I am very glad you liked it.

Hopefully I'll get another plot bunny in the near future and come up with another story.

Hah! I loved seeing Bainion get his and I hope he gets still more seeing how completely flippant he was. Moron! When you are facing the troop commander, it might be wise to show a little respect, especially when you have made such bad decisions. You did a good job with that conversation though. I could almost see some of Bainion's points. And I love seeing Thranduil. Great chapter.

Author Reply: Bainion didn't handle that very well, did he? I guess he doesn't understand the concept that the commander is always right. I guess he doesn't think he has done anything wrong regardless of the deaths and injuries. I had to get Thranduil in here somehow. He's been quite scarce in this story!
