That was beautiful...*sigh* As all your stories are. I especially like the part about the birth of our beloved Sammie. He is special, isn't he. I am glad someone saw it to begin with. The first part of this is quite a different take on the death of Frodo's parents. It is much more interesting than the traditional sad/angsty outlook, I must say. I congratulate you on this wonderful addittoin to your writings and say continue on with the wonderful writings! ~M. Gamgee Author Reply: Bell, just like every other mother, thinks all her children are capable of great things. She has no idea how correct she is about Sam. This was also an opportunity to figure out why a mother would name her child 'half-wise'. That's always bothered me. There are so many opportunities to be sad/angsty about the deaths of Frodo's parents, but those would mostly be dealing with Frodo. Primula and Drogo, in the very last moments of their lives, would have only one concern: Frodo's welfare. Seeing that he would be looked after, they were able to go in peace. I understand why so many people would think that drowning would be a horrible way to go, and so automatically go for the dramatic drowning scene, but I myself did almost drown once, and this was an opportunity to share a little bit of that experience. Thanks so much for the lovely review! I'm glad you enjoyed it, as well as my other fics. | |
