Good Enough  by The Karenator 175 Review(s)

God, I love Daeron. "the big bad warg's rump" LOLOL It's interesting to see Legolas react to Daeron's voiced unwillingness to go on this upcoming trip. He "whips" his head around, and that word "whips" tells it all. He's startled that someone wouldn't want to do this training. And he's confident in his own skill with a bow, which is nice to see. And also confident in his reception by the girls!

Daeron's fear of spiders is both hilarious and unfortunate, given where he lives!

The boys are funny as they admire the maiden with Aldamir. I guess they've grown up some since the last time we saw them. I like the "fine blown glass vase" comparison. And I like the way Daeron thinks of Isilya as potentially "one of us." I think he's probably right that Aldamir wouldn't appreciate them counseling him about Elenna's previous love life. The last thing he needs is these two upstarts watching him.

That Seregon took Aldamir's night duty is a tribute to their friendship and understanding.

But wow, Daeron and Legolas are cruising for trouble with Belas. I look forward to it!

Author Reply: Hi daw,

Legolas and Daeron do have differing opinions on going on these games. Legolas is eager to go despite knowing how difficult they'll be. Daeron, on the other hand, really doesn't like the idea of being miserable, but he understands that this will be good for him--sort of like having to eat peas.

Daeron still doesn't like creepy, crawly things with eight legs. But he's growing up and only time will tell. Spiders are going to be hard avoid considering where he lives. Poor Daeron.

The guys have grown up and have come to an age where they appreciate a pretty girl. Even though Daeron might enjoy watching the lovely Elenna, he still has eyes for Isilya. And no, the commander would not take kindly to his youngest kinsmen meddling in his love life. But they are watching! Better than reality TV.

Aldamir and Seregon are close. They've always had each other and find safety and comfort with one another. They trust each other completely. I would think placing personal trust in someone outside the family would difficult for them considering who they are. But they have each other and the bond is strong.

And yep, you're right; Belas is trouble. Who better to stir up even more trouble than two well-meaning, little busy bodies like Legolas and Daeron? They're just trying to help!

Thanks for reading and reviewing.

Dang, when you said you were ready to post I didn't know you meant NOW! This'll have to be quick...

I love Belas the Bellower. Somehow I don't think he realizes what he's up against this time, though. Although neither do Legolas and Daeron...

I really like the easy camaraderie between your two young scamps. Their personalities are distinct but they are entirely comfortable with and trusting of one another. It's interesting to see their different take on the upcoming games, though - Legolas is much less cynical of authority than Daeron! He seems to take the Games as a necessary evil, while Daeron doesn't really see the point of being tortured for torture's sake.

Love Legolas's line: "I know she is quite beautiful. Wonder why she is talking to Aldamir?" Hoot! That's a younger brother for you. And already snooping around where he shouldn't be...

Well, I guess you know what kind of arrows to shoot birds with now, so my work is done. Even though I already kinda know where this is headed, it's fun to sit back and enjoy the ride!

Author Reply: I puttered around with this last night and decided to bite the bullet and subject myself to ridicule. I had no idea that public humiliation was brewing over on your Lj or I might have waited. Two vulnerable moments might prove too much for my delicate disposition.

Legolas and Daeron do have slightly different views of the games. I think Legolas is actually looking forward to going despite knowing that the games will be difficult. Daeron, on the other hand, sees no real good reason to be miserable if he can avoid it.

Yeah, Legolas can't see for the life of him what a beautiful maiden would see in his brother. I can, but then, I'm a girl. An old girl, but a girl nonetheless.

Yep, I've stored that bird arrow knowledge and it might just pop up at any time now.

Thanks for all your help. Since daw's already pointed out one of my boo-boos this morning, I should amend my thanks to you for beta reading with a disclaimer that I can still screw things up even with you looking over my shoulder. It's a tough job even for a ranger.

Thanks again for everything.

Well, how fresh and funny. Sounds like mischief is brewing, and Legolas and Daeron are just the pair to instigate it! Daeron is too funny! I laughed all the way through this first chapter. Daeron is quite expressive, isn't he?

Can't wait for the next chapter. Belas's downfall and Alar's vindication. Bring it on, and let the Games begin (the Endurance Games, of course)!

Great start to a great story, Karenator.

Author Reply: Thank you, Brenda! What a relief to read that you found it funny! My sense of humor--or is it Daeron's?--is slightly warped at times and to find that others share this slightly deranged view of the world pleases me to no end.

The games will be a little more than our little friends are expecting, but well, what fun would it be for everything to go smoothly?

The whole story is written and posting should go off without a hitch. Though whatever Daeron and Legolas are involved in usually goes awry. Let's just say, I hope nothing goes to pot with posting.

Thanks again for reading and reviewing.

I just love Daeron. His perspective on love, life and laundry is just so wonderful. And, hopefully, he and Legolas will manage to subdue the bellowing Belas without getting into trouble. Although I'm not holding my breath.

Author Reply: Thanks, Bodkin. Belas is trouble on two feet, but the Mirkwood duo think they've got his number. Funny how people can fool you sometimes. Just when you thought you had everything under control....

As for subduing Belas without getting into trouble? This is Legolas and Daeron we're talking about, you know. They mean well, but things never seem to go as planned.

I'm so glad you enjoyed this chapter. I really appreciate you reading and reviewing. This story took me forever to write...just slow...but I enjoyed writing it. It pleases me to no end to know that you found it entertaining.

Thanks again!

Oh goody! A new story of the adventurous duo and this first chapter aleady has me in chuckles and giggles. The dialogue, as usual, was very witty and entertaining. So the two ellings are a little older now but I don't suppose their penchant to get into trouble is any less. Looking forward to see what adventure/trouble you have in store for them.

Author Reply: Hi Manderly!

I've been working on this for so long, you'd think I was writing War and Peace.

The guys are a little older now. The glorious teenage years--young enough to still embrace trouble as a pastime and old enough to really find it.

I'm so glad you enjoyed this chapter. I have the whole story written so updating should flow fairly easily. I've been pestering the ranger for the past week to beta and she's now exhausted and muttering something about spiders in her sleep.

Thanks for reading and reviewing. I'm always thrilled to hear from you...in review AND especially when you post your stories.
