Good Enough  by The Karenator 11 Review(s)
BodkinReviewed Chapter: 11 on 4/2/2005
Long live Aran Thranduil! Three cheers for the Elvenking. (I don't suppose he'd like to give us the benefit of his wisdom, would he?)

It's a good thing that our hero Daeron was there to rescue his cousin from his health blip. And it's a good thing that it didn't occur when he was up a tree! They'd have had trouble hiding from 'this elf' if they'd tumbled down in front of him.

I'm glad that Legolas cracked and gave his father the information about this elf. He is in much the best position to investigate it and come down like a mighty oak on the obnoxious and manipulative dilettante. Elenna comes across as an elleth who has been pushed into agreeing finally to do something she has always refused to agree to - and he is determined to get her to the point where she can't change her mind. This elf is bad news. (And what a point to get her out of her aunt's cottage - the moment the perceptive queen arrives and might notice that something is going on. The elf deserves to have Legolas and Daeron target him. Make it so, King.)

Enduring 'the wrath of the angry naneth'. Poor Daeron - although he sounds less pained than his cousin after the attack of the worried queen. But however firm she was - all it takes is a threat to her baby and she's back in caring mother mode. I loved Legolas's response to seeing her curled up on his adar's lap. Lucky not-quite-elfling.

I can't wait to find out more.

Author Reply: Legolas frightened Lalaith so much that her sensitivity went right out the window. And! She's capable of reading emotions. She knew the little whelp was lying! She was on a roll. Thranduil had time to simmer down and use another approach to wheedling the information out of his son. He simply asked leading questions, knowing that Legolas would crack.

And crack he did. Thranduil is not pleased that this elf is lying about his oldest son, but he also has concerns about this kind of rumor taking hold out in the remote villages. Got to nip this in the bud!

You're right about Calith. He's pushing hard to keep his train on the tracks. He's hanging on to Elenna by a thread and he knows it. He had to get Elenna away from everyone to talk to her. He could hardly say the things he did to her with an audience since said audience might contradict what he said. Elenna's aunt has lived in the stronghold village for a long time and she would know instantly that the slug was lying. Calith is a sly elf...and a jerk to boot.

Legolas was on a major guilt trip when he woke and saw his parents united in his care. As maddening as their watchfulness can get to him, he realized that when he really needed them, he was glad that they were there. He realized how much he admires and loves his father and that really piled the guilt on. Poor guilt ridden elfling. That'll teach him! I hope. :>)

Thanks again for reading and reviewing.
