That Eowyn! She's so eager for middle-of-the-night adventures, yet can be as frightened as a little girl. A lovely blend of shieldmaiden and protected princess of Rohan.

"he was utterly thankful that Frodo’s stern face had not worked on Eowyn. He knew that if it had been him, he would have told his cousin and the queen everything"

*grins*

Author Reply: Eowyn's like the little girl who likes to pretend she's a great detective, but is scared of the dark. :)
Frodo would be a good interrogator. He'd just have to turn his eyes on someone, and that person would melt like a snowman in summer.

Well I'm glad that I finally was able to read some more of this! I saw taht it was updated quite a while ago but haven't had much time! I was a little confused when you spoke of Eowyn falling through the ceiling, I was sure I read it somewhere but couldn't remember where, finally went back and read the notes at the top, of course it sounded familiar it was yours!

What a tragic story! Is this going to have something to do with more current events? Possibly Boromir and Faramir's mother? I'm so curious it is hard to contain myself ;)

Hm, is Gandalf onto them? I'm sure he would have some answers if he would ever let them askt he questions! Looking forward to more!

Author Reply: I'm glad you got the time to read it! I thought that I'd incorporate the other story for a bit of fun; it is definitely going to be tying in to other events. Finduilas may be a part of them. ;)
Gandalf is definitely onto them. I don't know what he's going to do about it just yet, as the characters tend to take on a life of their own whenever I settle down to write. The next chapter is with my beta, so I should be updating soon!

I want more! Lots and lots and lots more! Great job.

Farawyn

Author Reply: Thank you! There will be more soon, I promise!

It's probably a good thing that Gandalf has caught them out. Probably. He will surely not allow anything too 'The Exorcist' to happen.

(Anything that makes Eowyn and Pippin ensconce themselves in a library has its good points too.)

Author Reply: You know, I've never seen "The Exorcist". I doubt that things will get too bad, though. They are, after all, living in the same place as most of the heros of the West.

Pippin and Eowyn may actually be seeing a lot more of that library. I agree, it is a good thing.

Now that is one great ending line!

:D

Author Reply: Thanks! :)

Prince of Dol Amroth! I didn't expect that it would be Imrahil's forefather. I was all prepared to hate this anonymously evil old man willing to marry a very young girl (although now that I think about it, I suppose 15 wasn't really that young for a girl to marry). I wonder if that is similar to what Finduilas felt.

The pairing of Pippin and Éowyn is very interesting, and certainly one I have not seen before. I think it works out well. Sounds like these two have a little too much time on their hands :) I do hope they don't get into hot water with Aragorn for their snooping, or with Merry for leaving him out of the fun :)

Author Reply: There will be ties to Dol Amroth and Finduilas, which I will get to enventually. I feel that Finduilas would have loved Denethor, though. It's a strange feeling I've got.

Pippin and Eowyn struck me as a good pair, considering that they're the two youngest of the entire group. They are trouble waiting to happen, aren't they, lol? Aragorn will probably feel like banging his head against the nearest wall when he finds out what they're up to. Merry will be joining them soon: he and Pippin share a room, so it will be hard to leave him out of things. :)

Goodness! This is turning into a good old fashioned mystery!

*intrigued*

Author Reply: I like mysteries, especially in the winter, and so I thought I'd try my hand at one. I'm glad you're intrigued!

I remember that story - it was really horrible. Very medieval and reminiscent of walled-up skeletons and so on. Is that responsible for all the hauntings and spookiness of the abandoned wing? I wouldn't be surprised. I hope you are going to tell us more about the poor unfortunate Alatariel. And her nasty nasty father Belecthor II.

Very typical of Eowyn to swan off and investigate on her own. Ditto Pippin. I'm glad they found each other. Frodo seems pretty suspicious of little cousin though, so maybe the cavalry will be seeking them out. Or maybe not.

Hope the next chapter comes soon. Very exciting.

Author Reply: I hope that you meant he events in the story were horrible, and not the story itself, lol. I've always been fascinated by creepy medieval stories and walled up skeletons. I figured that the stewards of Gondor could be just as bad as the medieval kings, for all they didn't take over the throne. Yes, Alatarial is a part of the hauntings in the abandoned wing. We are going to learn more about her, and Belecthor.
Frodo would be an interesting ally, wouldn't he? And Eowyn and Pippin are such fun together.
I'm glad you like it, and thank you for reviewing!

I loved this as a standalone, and it also works well as a chapter. I found it heartrending when I first read it and still find it so. And infuriating-that is just the sickest, sickest way to treat one's child! Belecthor either couldn't have been in his right mind or was a very cruel person, because as her father he could have compelled her into marriage.

I love your characterizations too.

Author Reply: Thank you! It's very sad what Belecthor did-he could have just forced her into the marriage, or sent her away, but he walled her up. It makes you wonder what he told the people of the city, when she suddenly died. I'll be going into all that, so stay tuned!
I'm glad that you like my characterizations, too, as they're something I try hard to get right. Thanks again!

Wizard's don't hide, I like that one. Now that Eowyn has the door unlocked, it is a open invite for Pippin.
