This Too Shall Pass  by Budgielover 14 Review(s)

Budgie, could you please put a coffee warning on stories like this? Coffee spluttered over my poor keyboard does it no good at all!

I loved to see Legolas so mischievious - a little OOC, perhaps, as he normally seems so serious, but the hobbits must be rubbing off on him. What a shame he got the wrong ones. The discussion about the reappearance of Merry's button was well done - nothing graphic, but very obvious.

Author Reply: I'm sorry about your keyboard, Jay - I hope there was no permanent damage. I loved your comment about the hobbits "rubbing off" on Legolas - it made me think about how much the other members of the Fellowship were changed by their association with hobbits. Maybe our dignified and lordly Elf will try his developing skills against the master prankster ... oooh ... rampaging plot bunny! Take cover!

This was so cute and silly! I love stories of the Fellowship before Moria, and this one was so light-hearted and cute. Imagine, it was Frodo, all along. (Actually I did have my suspicions at one point, but then dismissed them as improbable!) The idea of making Pippin eat Merry's arm had me in stitches, and then making Pippin think Merry's hand was gone...Poor Pip! And for *once* he was Not Guilty! But the most inspired part was Merry's button. OMG! And your title--you are really wicked! (Smacks hanny, but grins at same time!)

Author Reply: Hi, Dreamflower. That was one of the most difficult stories I've written, believe it or not. I felt like I was skirting a chasm - one wrong step and I'd fall into the Crevice of Poor Taste. (Horrors!) And then trying to follow the story line we came up with in our hobbit-moot! It really was fun writing this, and I'm just glad it was so well-received.

What a lovely light-hearted story. And a Frodo with a sense of mischief! And Legolas doing something other than look elegant or be ill-treated.

I love the tree sap in Legolas's hair - though I suspect only scissors would remove it. Encouraging Pippin to look on Merry's arm as lunch was a wonderful trick. Good recompense, if the wrong hobbits.

The pink ribbons were inspired too - although surely Merry and Pippin must have been in on that one.

Author Reply: Hi, Bodkin. Actually, from experiencing sap in the hair from countless hunting trips, I agree with you. But I couldn't come up with anything else! And it was so much fun to take a poke at the Elf-lovers who moon over Legolas' hair. I considered him having to cut it then decided I wasn't brave enough to endure the outraged cries. I'm so glad you enjoyed this exercise is pure silliness.

Oh, this was great fun!! And with that title, LOL. Seems as though the lot of you should get "happy" together more often ;-) Absolutely marvelous that you have Frodo be the one!!!! Wonderful!!

Author Reply: Oh, the title... I tried to word it so that the whole plot would not be given away right there, but I am sure people figured it out. My favorite part is still the "Anals of Fanfic History" or however that read. Warped, warped, all of us... ;)
