Oh, what a sweet chapter! Baby Merry's here!

I love seeing people loving on Frodo!

:D

Author Reply: I must confess, I love that too. ;)

I'm so glad Bilbo's there!

QUOTE:

That bright smile showed Bilbo that the old Frodo was still inside, just waiting to come out again.

Aww! Yes! He's still in there! Don't give up on him!

Off for more!

Author Reply: Hee hee. Bilbo give up on Frodo?! Not in any fic of *mine*, certainly! :P

Obelia!! I finally found a few moments to get started on this. I can tell already it's going to be a darling story!

Poor, sweet Frodo! He looses his parents and gets teased by an older, nasty cousin in the bargain...and the poor thing is sick to boot! Well, at least he has his aunt Esme. I'm glad of that.

Off to read more!

Thank you very much for Your story! It's really beautiful one. I'm going to read next part right now.

I've been reading Adrift since you mentioned it earlier this week at LJ and I LOVE it. So well-written and Young Frodo is exactly as I have always imagined him. wonderful!

Author Reply: Eeeee! Welcome! Thanks so much for reading. :D I'm sorry I never replied before... I really should check back here more often! :-\

Will Frodo remember Aragron, Legalas, and Elrohir later? Because if he doesn't, his memory must not be so good :D j/k. I'm really liking this story so far. I'll be reading the rest of the chapters when I can.

Author Reply: LOL. I figure a combination of not getting a good look at Aragorn, Legolas, or Elrohir plus a hazy memory will result in Frodo conveniently acting as if he has never met any of them. ;P

You write well. A recommendation, however: study the geneological charts for the hobbit families in the back of your copy of ROTK. That way, you'll get the ages right (i.e. Frodo was 12 when his parents did, 14 when Merry was born, 21 when Biblo adoptd him, etc.) and annoying people like me won't yell at you for messing up cannon. Or, another way to avoid this is to put a marker on your stories and say that they are slightly AU in that the ages are wrong. This will also stop us (at least it will stop some of us) from being annoying. I'd recommend the first route though, if only because if you're going to do something, you should do it well.

Okay, now that I've got that out of the way...I really like the way that you've developed the relationship between Frodo and little Merry. It is very cute. Also, your idea of Saradoc and Esmerelda suggesting to Biblo that he ought to adopt Frodo is an interesting one - I've never read a story with that take before, but there's nothing in cannon to countradict it (at least, I don't think there is). I'll look for and read the second story in this series as well.

Author Reply: Hi:

Thanks for reviewing, and thanks for all your comments! As you will see if you get to the second story, I did in fact make a conscious choice to change Frodo's age and Bilbo's age. The other ages are all canon. And I did have a note to that effect on "Adrift" originally, back when I posted it on Fanfiction.net. I must have left that out by mistake when I posted it here. You were the first person to say anything, so thanks for mentioning it! I'll put it back in right away.

Obelia :^)

I would have left reviews on previous chapters, but there wasn't enough time before I pushed 'Next' to see what happened! Excellent writing here, and excessive hobbit cuteness that is very welcome. I actually finished all of Anchored first (so far) and then came back to this one, loving them all. The characters are spot-on and I enjoy seeing how the hobbits we know in the Fellowship might have come to be. Thanks!

Author Reply: Thank you so much for reading! I'm thrilled you enjoyed it. Quite a few people seem to read my fics in reverse order, but as long as it still makes sense that's fine with me! :)

I've managed to read the two stories backwards!!!

I've really enjoyed this story. You have made it thoughtfull and compassionate without being overly sentimental.

Well done

Helen

Author Reply: Hee hee, you're not the only one to read them backwards! Seems to be a popular approach. ;) Thanks for reading this one too, and I'm delighted you enjoyed it.
