Speaking the Dead  by Lindorien 20 Review(s)

That was a beautiful story and tribute to the fallen. Very powerful, I remember when they read the names of the fallen after 9/11 and how moving that was because it really drove home that these were individuals and not just names on a list. Thanks for a moving story.

Oh My....you've rendered me near speechless and my heart near broken. A job well done, Lindorien. Perhaps the singularly most powerful piece of fic I have read.

Author Reply: Hugs, Blue Iris. The job well done is by those we Speak at the site. May that list grow NEVER longer. Lindorien

ShirelingReviewed Chapter: Prologue on 7/21/2004
Beautiful, Lindorien.

It is so easy to forget when you hear the news or read a newspaper that every casualty is somebody's son, somebody's husband.

'With each flew a dream, a wish, a hope, soaring away under the clear-blue of that early spring sun.'

Salute

Ah, nothing like a good cry before breakfast. ;) This was beautifully done -- so touching and so plausible. I was really mad at Aragorn at first. How could he be so obtuse? Then, of course, I got it. Having to read Boromir's name. :pats Aragorn: :howls and rends convenient garment:

Pearl TookReviewed Chapter: Prologue on 7/21/2004
I'm sitting here at my keyboard with tears rolling down my face. I feel we have forgotten our own fallen much too often. I feel we have forgotten 9/11 and I think our media often have the wrong motives for remembering our fallen soldiers. Most of our soldiers feel they need to be where they are and that what they are doing is for the good.

My son is a soldier in the Army National Guard, currently on active duty in Iraq; he, so far, is fine. But I often think of those who have fallen. They would want to be remebered like the fallen of Gondor in this story; with honor, respect and thanks.

Thank you for this story. Thank you deeply.

Author Reply: May your son stay safe, Pearl. I will keep him in my thoughts. Please visit our site. www.livejournal.com/community/speakingthedead . Let us know what you think. We try to do them honor as the citizens of Gondor mean to do their fallen honor. Tell others of our site. Tell others to read their stories. Lindorien

Aragorn halted in the B's, and it did not click why. Of course, Boromir!
This was just like Faramir, to be sure.
