Very nice story indeed. All the CC stay in character, and the little banter between Aragorn and Legolas is enjoyable.

Keep up the good work!

Author Reply: Hi, Timmy. Thank you for your review, and for commenting on the interaction between Legolas and Aragorn. There isn't really much in canon to suggest friendship, and more, affection, between them, but surely there was. In this, perhaps fanfiction is more true to the spirit of Tolkien than editorial space permitted the Professor to be?

Legolas is very powerful in this story - I love his communication with the trees and the way they protect him. And I really like Gimli making the first approach to him - Dwarves are not unreasonable. Good image of the trees looking at his axe and him as tree murderers.

Nice hobbits - and the ever-present provisions. Very practical. Good caring Boromir, covering them with his cloak.

Most enjoyable story.

Oh, this story was not easy to read. A bit too scary for me. In other words, you're very good at convincing me a situation is too awful for a happy ending to be possible.

This is a great description of hobbit attitudes: "Several apples from Merry’s pockets and half a small wheel of cheese and some bread from Sam’s, and the hobbits stared at what was, for hobbits, a very unsatisfactory supper. They had canvassed the Big Folk but none of them had thought to bring food. Merry shook his head disapprovingly, his opinion of Big People’s priorities dropping a notch."

Hey Budgie.

Glad to see you have updated. Hope you do not have to have surgery. Write when you can, and as always, keep coming up with exciting cliff hanging stories.
