Ha! So much for elven senses!
and I thought I left my characters in 'get out of this then' situations, woman you are wicked.
Loved the messenger, laughed out loud.
Thanks for the pick me up
Rose

Author Reply: Well, I suppose that even Elven instincts can get it wrong sometimes! Poor Nifael, there will be more of him later in this story. Glad you enjoyed it!

Now that would certainly startle you! I hope Arwen has skipped out of the way.

I liked the details about Legolas writing to his father because he knew that Thranduil would worry.

Author Reply: Are you on line all the time, Daw? Because you usually send a review within minutes of me posting! (Not that I'm complaining.) I'm glad you liked the troll's entrance - it seemed a different way to do it!

Poor Thranduil will be more than worried later on - but you'll have to wait and see why.

lol.... I still laugh when I read about Elrond admonishing Arwen.. :-)

Author Reply: Well, she shouldn't have stolen Glorfindel's horse! And she couldn't even blame the twins this time! ;)

I am glad Elrond has realized that the whole lot need to be looked after :-). Picturing a cave troll and then imagining fighting one is enough to make me glad we only write about this world. Arwen is brave - but for as much as I'd like to claim I'd be back in the safety of Imladris, in my younger days I'd have gone with too!

As for 'borrowing' Asfaloth....well I have a solution for that. Glorfindel said that Asfaloth would never let fall anyone he commanded the horse to carry. Perhaps he can convince Asfaloth to buck her off once. :D

Bad me, I know...

Author Reply: If Glorfindel *did* try that, it didn't work, did it? It didn't stop her!

And I agree with you - writing this is one thing, doing it would be quite another.

Very amusing about Asfaloth, Jay.

It's occurred to me that your stories give Legolas plenty of reason to want to stay out of caves when he gets to Moria. You are pretty hard on him every time he goes under ground!

Author Reply: Asfaloth became involved after a casual comment from a reviewer for the original incarnation of this story on ff.net, nearly two years ago. Poor Legolas - but perhaps having done the heroic bit and rescued the twins despite his fear, he'll feel differently about caves. Or maybe not ...

Oh no! At least this time the elf is not under the rock. Very exciting stuff, and personally I would go for the Dwarf with the chisel theory of removing elves from trolls ,
great stuff
Rose

Author Reply: *Grin* ;) Yes, the chisel would be better than poor Elrohir turned to stone! I hope you like the rescue scene.

Oi! Another cliffie! :-P I hope that Legolas and Elrond will not have too much difficulty rescuing the twins and Estel - Legolas's poor head isn't really up to it. Elrond's going to have his hands full of difficult patients, in any case.

Author Reply: Legolas's head injury is the least of his problems when he goes into the cave - he has to confront a few nasty memories as well.

Besides dealing with injured sons, Elrond also finds he has a horse-stealing daughter in the next chapter.

I was amused that Elrond looked like Thranduil when he wanted Legolas to stay home and heal. I guess all fathers have the same look when their grown sons are being foolish.

It's not surprising that Legolas is still haunted by having to shoot his own warrior. It's a truly horrible thing.

Author Reply: I liked Elrond having the Thranduil look too - and Legolas didn't argue any more, did he?

I'm not sure that 'talking about it' too much is the best way to get over such an experience, but both Elrond and Thranduil have had to do terrible things in their time in battle, so they do understand.

Ah, I love how my Lord Elrond is constantly and gently persuading his elflings (and Estel) to sleep with his potions! *g* Not that I don't think he enjoys a little well-deserved revenge for them constantly scaring a thousand years off his life!:) Anyway, did a dance when I saw this story and "Memory..." updated this morning...you have been a busy little writer, haven't you? *3 cheers for jay!!!* But this chapter was great...after suffering knowing Legolas had been knocked into next week, I was quite relieved that his injuries were not as severe as imagination could make them. ;) I was very sad about Linhir, tho', and very glad one of those trolls got another well deserved arrow to the mouth, while the other turned to stone with the sun (but when he grabbed one of the twins...*shudder*... and turned to stone with a piece of his sleeve in his paw....scary!) And I thought they would never find Legolas....they needed our help, didn't they...we could find that elf in a heartbeat! *vbg* Wonderful stuff...update soon! Now on to "Memory..."

linda

Author Reply: I think I'm falling into the fanfiction trap of making Elrond too 'potion happy' - he's a responsible healer, and wouldn't drug for the sake of it. (Mind you, his sons and Legolas deserve it!)

Legolas is not going to bounce back from this immediately, so your imagination wasn't far out.

Oh that wonderful elven sleeping draught. I wish I had some when I get a migraine - I don't care how bitter it is
Another wonderfully exciting ch - I liked the bit about not getting stuck when the trolls turned to stone - painful!
Thanks
Rose

Author Reply: Sometimes that sleeping draught can have side effects, though - something I'm looking at in the next chapter of Memory of Darkness. I also need to think about what would have happened to Elrohir if he'd been caught as the sun came up!
