I usually try to avoid reading "in progress"--it's so *frustrating* to have to wait-- but you've been so nice to me! So I went ahead with this one. What fun! I had not really thought much about Gandalf's previous interactions in the Shire, although it's clear that he was busy there even before Bilbo! I like your Isengar very much; and don't over-enthusiastice caregivers everywhere make the same mistake in underestimating the elderly? I do hope it's finished soon though!

Author Reply: lol..you won't have to wait too long; I usually post quickly, though I had an important errand to run this morning, I might be a tad late today. The story is drawing down to an end, so again, it won't be long now--I rarely go past ten chapters. I like Isengar, too; if you want to read more about him, I have a story called Gandalf and the Seahobbit where he is featured, if you're interested. Take care.

P.S. My you've been busy posting today! I gotta get the next chapters up, but afterward, I'll be checking out Buckland again.

Aww! Loved the reunions - I think I just love reunions in general! And hopefully there'll be more in the next chapter when they get back to the Smials. That little hint of Eglantine being in love with Adelard before Paladin was great! Do I detect the begginings of another story? Or at least a more thorough explanation in this one!:)

Author Reply: Well...I think she was pulling Paladin's leg on that one, but yes, it would be nice to write a love story between Paladin and Eglantine. I imagine them as childhood sweethearts, but I'm afraid I think it would only be you and I reading it! Thank you for taking the time to review!

)looking over to the pink sea-shell lying on her vanity.)
Question answered and in a very nice way. Just knew that had to still be somewhere! LOL

Author Reply: Like I said--can't get anything by you! :-)

If Merry gets to go on a ‘venture, can I go too, Papa?”
Shades of their future adventures. Love the way you work this in.

Author Reply: Yes, my wink at the future Fellowship! I couldn't help myself...

Love Gandalf's words about the hobbits as it shows his affection for them so very well. I am enjoying this very much.

Author Reply: I'm glad you are! I've always liked Gandalf, I just don't write him as well as I do the hobbits.

Just totally love Saradoc in this. So sweet and so innocent and totally smitten with the lass of his dreams.

Author Reply: Oh absolutely! He's not tainted and jaded by the pain of...life. Though even then he's still a good hobbit. Take care.

One little piece of advice...the flash backs should be told in the first-person POV, since Paladin, a main character in the story, is the one telling it.

Author Reply: Thank you--and I'll take that advice to heart. You're going to cringe when I tell you that I actually entertained that idea, but I had already posted the first few chapters... Then after I got to thinking about it more, I decided to leave it as is so that it wouldn't sound *too* much like Seahobbit. Gracious me! I was already doing the *flashbacks*--I forgot just how strenuous those can be, and I don't think I'll be doing it again for a long while! :-P It's almost over--thanks for taking the time to review and give advice. :-)

Well, at least we know they aren't being chased by the Black Riders!

Author Reply: Nah...too soon for those guys. Besides, I'd have nightmares writing them!

Well, you've certainly brightened my evening. Thank you! (Reading this was definitely more fun than reading journal's on Addison's disease, lol). Paladin and Addie's play-time in the sand was so gorgeous - that really is something I love about hobbits. They can always manage to be so childlike, no matter how old they may be.

Hmm...I'll have to see about your poetry offer. If I manage to think up anything, I'll send it to you :) I've finished the Merry/Estella story now, so if I don't decide to start on another one (which I probably will, lol), I might just have time for writing poems.

Author Reply: If you come up with something--great, if you don't no biggie. I would hate to think I've pulled you away from your primary focuse--Addie's disease (sorry--couldn't help myself!). Poetry isn't as important as your studies. :-)

Thanks for the compliment on the beach scene; I agree, hobbits are basically adults who never grew up--or at least don't let life bog them down. I'll be updating again... Take care.
