Growing Pains  by Meldewen Ilce 18 Review(s)

Oh, no! I'm such a softie, I hate to think of Frodo being punished. It's so interesting to read a fic where we see so much of Primula and Drogo.

Author Reply: Hi Shirebound - You know what I am a softie too so it was hard deciding just how much trouble Frodo is in here!

And you know it has been rather interesting in writing this with Frodo's parents both alive!

Anyway I hopr you won't be disppointed as the story continues!

Oh I am so worried about how Frodo's going to react when he hears about his father dying. Hopefully it will help that they are moving to Bag End and Sam will be there faithfully as ever - but still - lots of sadness to come our young hobbit's way I fear.

Good to see that everyone is looking out for Drogo - even if he is unaware of the attention or says he doesn't need it.

I am sure he would be dancing around with worry if the same was to happen to Frodo.

Like Frodo's description of his father looking like a sheet on his bed - very much in tone with a child's perspective of something they saw.

I think I was learning along with Frodo in that chapter - my Elvish and Sindarian just don't cut it. Thanks for the explanations.

JULES

Author Reply: Believe me my Elvish/Silmarillion knowledge is very limited but I was happy to share with you my limited knowledge!

You just cannot get enough of Bilbo and Frodo together - love their times together no matter where they be.

Frodo inquisitive as ever and just as cute as we like him.

Keep up the great work and thanks for sharing your story.

Go Primula - great to see her stern words towards those who would hurt her son intentionally. I always liked her character for some reason - shame she wasn't around longer in Frodo's life - maybe she could have given the same speech to a few Orcs if they touched her son or Sauron himself. LOL

Very mysterious about this injury and illness to Drogo too - have to wait and see what you have cooked up for us.

Author Reply: LOL!

Yes, Primula is a force to be reckoned with if you miss with her son! And I dare say the Dark Lord and his orcs would have cowered if they'd had a run-in with Primula Baggins!

Please keep reading!

Nice little beginning here to introduce some of Frodo's experiences at Brandy Hall - I always like stories surrounding that part of his life.

Some funny comments about Pansy Brandybuck - would like her to come up against Merry - but I guess he would be alot younger.

Onto read the next chapter.

I would love to have Merry not to mention Pippin in this story but neither of them have been born yet! This story takes place 1380 S.R. and Merry was born in 1382 of the Shire-Reckoning so that rules out Pip too as he was born 8 years after Merry I believe!

Still it would have been fun to have Merry and Pippin have a run in with Pansy!

Oh Frodo's in trouble now. But what about his father? You need to include future chapters on Drogo!!!

Author Reply: Future chapters will include Drogo but first I wanted to focus a little on Frodo and Sam, building up their friendship before I get into Drogo's illness any further...
