A Light in May  by Antigone Q 38 Review(s)

Well, Medlin is not a particularly endearing creature; and now we find ourselves what's between Legolas and these two! Heh!

Definitely NOT dull! Heh!

So, we learn a bit more. Sorry to hear Arathorn was not particularly warm.

Now--why is Thranduil's older son hiding out in Lorien?

LarnerReviewed Chapter: 2 on 9/13/2009
And why are two sons of Thranduil loose in Middle Earth, hiding from their father's messengers? Lots of questions....

Ah--another first meeting between Legolas and Estel, then? Well enough.

Author Reply: It's not the only convention I use in the story, but I hope a good plot and characterization make up for some of that. This story was begun in 2003, so fans hadn't picked up on quite so many standard devices yet.

How nice to see this story finished! But poor Laegryn is likely to suffer if he really is somehow bound to her. I liked the "dark as a spider's eye" description, and also the use of the bit of canon about how killing diminishes healing skill. Elrond and Glorfindel must react especially strongly to kinslaying, given their history, though I suppose most elves respond strongly to that. Estel is a sweetie and his mother rocks!

Author Reply: Thank you very much. You are fabulous to read the end after the story had such a long hiatus! I posted it at three in the morning because I had decided that, no matter what, I wasn't moving from the computer until the last chapter was up. I'm glad you liked what I did with Gilrean. I hope she redeemed herself, at least a little, after being such a flake for most of the story.

He he, I am really enjoying this story, :) Especially the last chapter I read, about the evening meal, ha ha! I just love little Estel! So surprised when the stanger turned up to be Legolas, cant wait to finish the story, and see what our favorite elf is up to, tommoro when I will not get frowned on for reading on the computer so long. *Bang head on keybord in regret from being torn away from my precious web-storys*. ;) Namarie and God bless, Arwen

Well Met! I just left fanfiction.net, on a lark, hoping that you have updated here. The Valar are kind! So far I love the tale and look forward to more.
I have alread left reviews at the other site....

I have one more thing to add. I like how your elves are different than humans. Often, this is not the case. Yours seem to have a differnt "age" or sence of time about them. Quite nice.

Again, Minna Sedh, Hisie Lome

P.S. Do you prefer one site or update more often at one particular place?

Thanks

Author Reply: Yes, Stories of Arda will always be updated first, and I'm planning to update before too long. Thanks for your reviews - I have been enjoying them. I'm glad you thought "Glorfindel Fair" was funny and that you have been enjoying "Light in May." I've tried hard to echo Tolkien in making Elves different from Men, and even highlighting a few differences between Elves of different regions, so I love it when people notice.

Since I normally don't read fics with young Estel, I don't know if I'm one to judge, but this is *very*, very good.
I love the mood set from the begining and your Elves are kept very in check. I'm cutting the review short to read more. Cheers!

Author Reply: Thank you! Let me know what you think when you get to the end.

*sigh* I saw this at the top of the page and thought there was a new chapter. Oh well, I enjoyed reading this chapter again. Its very good.

Author Reply: Oh! Sorry hon, it must have sent a chapter alert for the millisecond I had it on Publish instead of hide. But the new chapter is up now! Let me know what you think.
