Poor Eowyn and Faramir! That tissue warning was not nearly strong enough. Aragorn was wonderfully in character in this chapter. Author Reply: Well, for future reference, when I give a tissue warning, I really mean it... I don't like to pull the angst card too often, but sometimes it just works for me. At any rate, thanks for your comments--I'm particularly pleased that you liked Aragorn in this chapter. He's had a distressing tendency to just show up in my fics, whether he's invited or not, so I'm glad that he's at least in character. :)

Separate beds? Thats one tradition I'd be happy to ignore too! I suspect Eowyn's pregnant. I wonder if she realizes it yet? Her question to Faramir in the previous chapter leans toward yes, and yet... Author Reply: Heheheheh, yes, that's a tradition I'd forego as well. For a lot of the customs, like sleeping in separate beds, I've drawn on early nineteenth-century England. I know the cultures are totally disparate, but Gondor strikes me as a land of great history in the midst of great change--which is, to a large degree, England in the nineteenth century.

As much as I adore a well-done Eowyn story, a well written Eowyn story with a shirtless Faramir is like real whipped cream on the cake instead of Ready Whip or similiar products. Author Reply: *giggles* Thank you! I rather like that idea myself...

I assume you are referring to the "Cup" incident on the commentary track. I had to bite hy hand to keep from laughing too hard in the computer lab as I read the part with Faramir employing the gag with Eowyn. It should be interesting to see what you've cooked up for the trouble in Ithilien. Author Reply: Yes, that's something I gleaned from the commentary. It was just too cute to resist, and I was at a serious loss as to what to do with the scene, which was mostly just exposition on their relationship.

Oh goody! A baby for Faramir and Eowyn! At least, I assume that's what Eowyn's problem is. It sounds as if the Steward and his wife are going to be parted soon though. That won't be good, particularly if Faramir is going into danger. And if Eowyn will be staying with the king, she's going to have to face him more that she had hoped to! Author Reply: Mmm, we'll see. ;) I don't want to tip my hand just yet, after all. :D

Now that was nice. You have done a really good job of conveying the physical attraction between these two people. You don't tell us; you show us. No wonder Aragorn felt as if he were intruding. I look forward to seeing the development of the mystery. Author Reply: Thanks--I enjoyed showing the relationship through Aragorn's eyes.

This was very romantic and sweet. I was struck by Eowyn's wondering what her husband had to offer her to make up for what she was giving up. She really did have to move to an entirely different culture and leave everyone she had known. How difficult that must have been. Shirtless Faramir is good. Author Reply: Thank you, and thank you for commenting on that aspect--it was something I was quite worried about conveying. In some respect everyone who marries goes through this kind of change of culture, yet for Éowyn it seems more pronounced, because she is giving up everything she has ever known. She loves Faramir, certainly, but there are many, many more things she's giving up. Yet in the end it's up to the both of them to make the transition bearable. And I think shirtless Faramir is good too. ;)
