As if her very thoughts of him had brought him (and she was not foolish enough to believe that, charming as the notion was) she sensed his approach.

A very charming notion! And why not? Or perhaps Eru decided to inspire Frodo to walk there, since Mirime was thinking of him!

Author Reply: I think because Mirime is not vain enough to think that her own wishes are that important-- but I have a feeling that you are quite probably right.

I didn't realise I had missed so many chapters while I was on holiday. Glad to be catching up now. This is a delightful scene, and I love the idea that a hobbit's body is more tuned to sensory perception than that of any other creature. It explains their love of life and all good things.

Author Reply: Yes, it's always been my own personal belief that hobbits have much sharper senses of hearing, taste and smell than other Races.

It explains their love of life and all good things.

Seems it took Frodo and Bilbo getting there for Mirimë to take her old form again. Good to know she still enjoys it.
Of course there's more to the whole matter than meets the eye, but when one sees it from the POV of us mortals and doesn't know about the deeper meanings and the background, it's much more difficult to understand, isn't it?

Author Reply: It did. Their arrival was the catalyst for her to find freedom from her grief!

It's difficult even for those of us in the so-called "real world"; how much more so in such a world as Arda, where faith is fact.

How beautiful the encounter--the Maia/Hobbit and the wistful Ringbearer, himself hardly more substantial in his white trousers and shirt of finest lawn than the foam of the sea.

Author Reply: I knew Frodo was going to come along-- I was quite surprised at his attire! I hadn't expected *that*, but the picture was quite clear in my mind.

So young and so beautiful! :)
