Ah, the healing of hobbits, and the fierceness of their friendship.

It is amazing how well this version fits in with the events in the original version. I look forward to reading how the whole tale spins out. Surely Denethor must have a happier ending...! (Or perhaps not, but how sad to contemplate.)

Just exactly the kind of chapter that "Boromir Lives" fans would hope for. Boromir has Merry's forgiveness. Now, perhaps he can begin to forgive himself. The bit about "screwing up his courage to leave" comes directly from the book, by way of Sam. I do believe that was what was going through his head as he decided to follow Frodo. Having the company and love of a friend can only help them both to face what will come.

In any case, a hug from you can bring only healing, not hurt

What a dear thing to say. What a wonderful chapter! Merry's figured out a lot on his own, and now at least he isn't feeling so alone any longer. It can only do Boromir good to once again have the companionship of a hobbit, with their steadfast love and lighthearted speech.
