Living history. Love it.

I like all these drablets, but this last one just begs for a sequel - where the tutor or Eldarion invite the twins to come give a 1st person view of various historical events - and the tutor gets a better clue.
Keep writing - I like your stuff!

Author Reply: I think the idea for a sequel is great, but perhaps it's one better left to the imagination. The poor tutor wouldn't stand a chance!

Oh that's a great one! I wish I had sources like the twins to use for MY English class. Would make life a lot easier.
That was a very funny and original drabblet there! I really enjoyed it! Can you imagine the look on the tutor's face when Elladan and Elrohir walked in?
Count on the twins to get Eldarion out of study time... :)

Author Reply: I rather like the idea of Elladan and Elrohir whisking Eldarion away from his lessons - and the tutor too stunned to protest about it!

*giggle* Now that's both true and adorable! I love the fact that for the Elves, most of history is *personal* history! How disconcerting that must have been to the mortals around them?

I'd love to have seen the tutor's face!

Author Reply: The tutor, after asking 'What would your uncles know of this battle?' would be stunned to find they were the mythological horsemen clad in grey :>)

Oh, that's good! Just ask the 2000-year-old Elves who popped in to help win the Battle. Maybe the tutor should get the Elves to write their memoirs, hmmm?

And then there's Celeborn's perspective on the legendary romance and adventures of Beren and Luthien...

Author Reply: Poor Herion! He's used to teaching human children. He's *not* used to elves who were there at all the great battles :)

CeleritasReviewed Chapter: 15 on 4/17/2009
Perfect title! Letters and diaries are still important, but if we could have some Elvish eyewitness sources... aaagggghhhh... *collapses in heap of historical nerdery*

Author Reply: *Giggles*

Thank you! A lot of my friends are historians. When one mentioned 'primary sources' I began thinking ...

Hee! Eldarion does not yet realize how lucky he is, being raised with both elvish and mortal wisdom. Poor Herion-- I'm sure he's used to knowing more than his young students, both knowledge itself and the ways of getting it. But if he is indeed wise, he knows that nobody is too old to learn.

Do you think archaeology might take some explaining to an elf?

Author Reply: Heh! Poor Herion - he may know nobody is too old to learn, but he can't imagine anyone so old that they were actually part of the battles he teaches about :>)

(And archaeology? Why dig up artifacts when you can just ask someone who was there?)

LarnerReviewed Chapter: 15 on 4/17/2009
Ah--THIS one has primary sources NOT available to most folks! Love it!

Author Reply: And most folks aren't aware that these primary sources even exist :)

Ha!Ha! Showed that ole tutor!!! Hugs The Imp

Author Reply: Yes! Poor Herion :>)

Hee hee!! I love it! Good answer, Eldarion, good answer!

Of course, the twins' involvement isn't widely known outside Rivendell - but to Eldarion it's family history :)
