Dawning Hope: A Day Out  by Radbooks 7 Review(s)
Raksha The DemonReviewed Chapter: 1 on 6/25/2007
"We’re not going far and I am sure they’ll listen to me.” - Why do I think that these are famous last words?!

Good luck, Theodred!

Author Reply: Thanks for reviewing, Raksha! Well, they didn't listen to him but at least no one got hurt and things haven't worked out too badly... so far. :)

I think it is a good idea to make these stories a series.
It is so poingnat that we know Theodred will never have children of his own.

Author Reply: Thanks for reviewing, Linda! It is sad to know that Theodred won't have children, but at least he did have a chance to at least interact with young children for a short time in his life.

This is a great start to the story. I can't wait to see what happens on his day out with the children. Now why do I think it won't quite be as easy as he thinks? ;) I did like his memories of sneaking out when he was younger, too.

Author Reply: Thanks, Misty! You might be right about that day out with the children. *grin* I'm glad you liked the memories that Theodred had there... many of us have those sorts of things. :)

Nice start, Radbooks. I really like what you're doing with Theodred. He's scarcely present in canon and not much in fanfic, so there's wonderful possibilities there.

Author Reply: Thanks, Daw. I'm enjoying getting to 'know' Theodred myself. :) I never thought to write about him and the Rohirrim at all, I've always been drawn to Aragorn and the Rangers. But I find that it's the children that I really enjoy writing and now Theodred is starting to take over, which is okay with me!

Looking after children makes you realise many things about yourself and your own childhood as Theodred is finding out! Glad he is beginning to appreciate how the other occupants of his home help to raise him.

Author Reply: Thanks for reviewing! You're so right, there are so many things about your childhood you take for granted and I think that in Theodred's case he would have been surrounded by people that really cared for him... at least in 'my world' they did! :)

LarnerReviewed Chapter: 1 on 6/12/2007
Oh, a nice beginning here. And now Theodred is finding reason to take an interest. Excellent. Looking to seeing this play out.

Author Reply: Thanks for reviewing, Larner! Yes, Theodred is finding himself drawn to the children and this little trip will help their relationship along. :)

Oh, thanks for the nomination for "Life in the King's House" and for the little nudge! Now that summer is here I do hope to work on it. This story is almost written and then I'll turn to that one.
