Four of a Kind  by Grey Wonderer 12 Review(s)
Hai TookReviewed Chapter: 4 on 7/16/2007
Sweet, Sam. He does seem like the type to have bee sensible even as a child. He learns quick doesn't he "He hadn’t meant to upset her but lasses didn’t always take the plain truth too well." lol. Thank you for such a sweet story!

Author Reply: I think Sam would have been a very sweet child. I'm so glad you enjoyed this! Thank you for reading.

This was just so 'Sam' it was perfect. And the Gaffer is lovely and a very proud father. I think you have our favourite Gamgees absolutely right here.

Author Reply: Thank you! I don't write much Sam and so your words are very welcome praise indeed. Thank you for the lovely review!

What a lovely family! Little Sam is so sweetly earnest and the Gaffer is so openly in love with his kids. I really loved watching the interaction here. Great dialogue, as always, and the best in human nature on glowing display. I so enjoy your stories!

Author Reply: Thank you! Sam makes me nervous when I write him but I am getting braver about him lately. I'm very glad you enjoyed it. I am in awe of your writing talent and it always amazes me that you read my stuff! Thank you.

Hooray! *claps wildly* - Delightful chapter. I love Sam's 'sense' and trying to do right for him family, but I love Gaffer's common sense - which we are all well aware of from the sayings Sam uses in their travels...

Excellent chapter.

Author Reply: I love Sam dearly but I don't write him often because I worry that I'm not getting him exactly right. I'm very glad that you enjoyed this. The Gaffer is a favorite of mine so I did enjoy writing him in this. I do think he must have been a very good father. If Sam respected him so much then he had to be.

Loved it, right in character as most of us imagine him at that age. I can never get enough "Sam," so please continue to write him!

Author Reply: Wow, thank you so much. I am always nervous about writing Sam and whenever anyone thinks that I've done a good job with him it really makes my day. Thank you so much and I will try my best to write more things with Sam. Lately he has been on my mind.

Very nice! Sam really was a good child wasn´t he? So caring and responsible already at that young age.

Author Reply: Something about Sam just makes me think that he was always responsible. I'm glad you enjoyed it. Thanks for the review!

AW! This is so touching!

That isn't a one of us who are parents that haven't had something like this happen. Bless the Gaffer's heart!

I'm so glad Sammy stayed home :-)

Author Reply: Dear Sam could never leave his family unless of course, Mr. Frodo needed him. : ) Glad you enjoyed it and it really is something that parents deal with from time to time. As you know, little ones will listen when you don't think they are! LOL Thanks for reading!

*sniff* Wow...I almost had to reach for a kleenex! sigh. That was very beautiful, very moving. The Gaffer could teach a few things to one particular set of parents that I know.

Now, I'm anticipating Part 2...maybe I'll hang on to this box of hankies for a bit.

Author Reply: I like to think that the Gaffer was a real soft touch for the most part. He was one of those gruff on the outside but a really sweetie on the inside kinda fathers. That's what I think anyway. Glad you enjoyed it. I don't think you'll need the kleenex on the next one but I could be wrong! I've been wrong before but don't tell anyone, ok? Out secret.

Oh, I can so easily see this happening between Sam and his father. And the Gaffer's got it right--when you don't hear all you don't know all.

And I bless both him and his oh, so responsible youngest son.

Author Reply: I think that sometimes we only hear a tiny part of things and get the wrong idea even as adults. With hobbits being so curious in general (even the non-Took hobbits) I think this sort of thing must have happened quite often don't you? Besides children just don't understand adult conversations and venting. LOL Thank you for reading and reviewing!

I don't think that you could ever manage to write too much for us GW! We love every word you offer, especially this!

Author Reply: Awww, thank you. That is so sweet of you. I have three more of these, one for each of the other hobbits so you might change your mind when you finished. LOL Thank you for reading and for this lovely review!
