Lovely take on that scene. I especially like that Boromir doesn't see what the hobbits concern truly is. His understand at the revelation is a great character building moment. Thank you for posting this.

First, I offer *my* apologies for not reading this sooner. The notice for this came while I was in St. Louis for a fiddle lesson and got lost in the shuffle of emails when I got home. I was cleaning out old emails today and found it. I immediately came and read it.

Wonderful!! I had never really thought much on that wee bit, and Elrond's "suggestion" that Boromir be cautious about winding the horn again any too soon. Leave it to our dear hobbits to set him right :)

I thought I'd reviewed this! Anyway, I just wanted to say how much I enjoyed it. I love the Hobbits' efforts to make Boromir understand exactly what he's done wrong. I also liked the fact that Boromir feels as if the Hobbits need cheering up or reassuring. I do like it when he is protective of the Hobbits. I loved the bit about blowing the horn to announce Boromir's bath.

Marigold - this was a beautiful little story, I loved it! And it featured my favorite human character along with my favorite hobbits. It's great to see you posting a story of your own! Please do it more often,

Cathleen

Author Reply: Thanks Cathleen, I am so glad that you liked it! Have you read Baylor's story "Concerning Hobbits"? This story was styled a bit after that story, and if you liked this one you will love hers : )

I'd love to write more often, but I think I am so much better at poking other people, lol!

Thank you again!

I love the different POV here! I've never seen Boromir's leaving Rivendell written like that before.

Author Reply: Thank you Sarah! I had never seen it either, and it had always bothered me, so I decided to write it myself : ) I am so glad that you enjoyed my story!

Yay, an understanding Boromir story! I really love stories that show Boromir's good side. I really enjoyed the part "They have hearts bigger than their stature". That is so true. I'm so glad you wrote this story, it's always a treat to read a Marigold Story :)

Author Reply: Thank you Sam! I am so glad that you like the story! Since seeing Boromir in the film I like him a lot better than I did before. Hobbits have the biggest hearts of all I think! : )

I hope that you will always think it is a treat to read one of my stories! I'll do my best to make it so!

Awww just lovely! Really nice Boromir pov there. Love that guy really, he's a dear! And the hobbits' voices are beautifully differentiated as well. Great job, just had to tell you!

This is so good for so many reasons it's impossible to list them all, but if I had to choose one reason it would be this: subtext. It is that thing which tells the deeper story, and often reveals the depth of a writers skill in understanding the craft. Everthing else is spot on, no doubt, from plot to characterization to denoument to story and character arc, yet still, it is the subtext which shines forth. I am reminded of the brushstrokes of an artist. This was simply splendid.

Author Reply: I have no reply to this other than "Wow" and "thank you"! What a wonderful and thoughtful review, and I feel quite speechless! Especially knowing how much you love Boromir, and Merry and Pippin.

You are so sweet and kind, and I appreciate your words very, very much! Rhank you Pipkin!

What a lovely little story, you've captured the essence of the hobbits perfectly. I always thought Boromir was a bit silly sounding that horn in Rivendell, so good to see such a perfect story about it.
Keep up the writing Marigold! But don't stop badgering the others or they'll never finish their stories :)

Author Reply: Thank you Blossom, I am so glad that you liked my story! Boromir was just too vain and silly, and I have always wondered what the hobbits thought about his showing off that way, just when they are supposed to be secretly leaving their safe haven and heading into danger.

I hope to keep writing as much as I can! And don't worry, I won't ever stop poking and badgering everyone else into writing stories! It's my calling!

Wonderful! I'd always thought that sounding of the horn rather pretentious and foolish. Glad to see your take on it.

Author Reply: Thank you Pips! I am glad that you agree with me! I can't think of many things sillier than what Boromir did : )
