Whispers of the Dragon  by shirebound 19 Review(s)

Ah, yes, it must have been difficult for Pippin to sit still for long stretches while they were in the boats...

This is just why I am so fascinating with writing in the Fourth Age:
Boromir put his arm around him. "You have seen battle, little one, but you have not yet seen war. The South is at war, Pippin. The eastern shore is either uninhabitable or held by the Enemy, and it has grown unsafe to dwell or farm too near the western shoreline. Perhaps someday the Anduin will be safe once again for bridges, boats, and people. Not yet. Not yet."

Oh! thanks for clearing that up, thought I had gone crazy. It is still very good, beta or not. Can't wait for what's next.

Excelent chapter. Watching Boromir's slow slide into madness is chilling.

I was so not expecting that boulder. But as soon as it missed Frodo, I knew just who it had to have hit. Now some of the fun starts. We've had a taste of Frodohealing, now us lovers of Pippinhealing get our chance.:)

Thanks for a fun and fascinating story.

Garnet Took.

I like the way you've written Merry and Pippin's worry over Boromir's mood. I also like the fact that Boromir saved Frodo in this chapter. It gives them a positive bond before things get too dark. I do hope Pippin is all right. Frodo's guilt and worry are so well written here that I could almost feel them myself. Looking forward to more!

i love the way you create a sense of creeping menace here and mention things like how deserted everywhere seems. This is a truly gripping story, I love it.

Oh no...Not Pippin!! Poor Frodo. Another burden on his shoulders. I love your Boromir and how you're writing him. He really wasn't evil, just misguided and the Ring played on that. I adored Boromir reassuring Frodo that he didn't mind Merry and Pippin and he was growing very fond of them. The two youngest really did become *his hobbits* didn't they?

Sorry I haven't reviewed in a bit. Been really sick this past month, so...But this story and others on here have helped me keep my mind off of things. BTW, I just got bit by a plot bunny that might fit over at your Shirebunnies site. I'll let you know when I've got it written out.

Loving this and looking forward to the next chapter!!

Well, if Frodo can't be captured or enticed away from the others, Saruman will crush him with boulders and hope to find the Ring in the rubble will he?

For once the primary focus of the Ring appears to be on one not in the Fellowship, although it still picks at Boromir as the most vulnerable within it.

Lovely details.

Beautiful moments between Boromir and Frodo. Poor Boromir is fighting it as best he can, and his quick thinking saved Frodo this time. Hope Pip is alright though.

This is a very thoughtful look at what effects the Ring would have been having on the Fellowship - fascinating as ever, Shirebound.

That would be hard on Frodo, to see his fellow hobbits hurt. And poor Boromir with the battle he is fighting within himself. This is so well written :)
