The Grey at the End of the World  by jodancingtree 4 Review(s)

Two more splendid chapters, with the moments of reflection standing in poignant contrast to the fury of battle. Interesting, Logi’s decision not to tame the trees if it came to that, even to save himself…he is on no one’s side at this point. Not even his own.

Author Reply: Thanks, Inkling! And you're right. When he abandoned loyalty, he lost it entirely - even for his own welfare.

Dammned orc! PArdon, I meant doomed! :-)

Berseker suits him and I like to see how all his demeanour has changed in the aftermath of this battle, and how he begins to feel his nature working against himself...

I guess that Logi assumes all this as part of his lot, I see him the type who sees guilt as a waste of strength, but i wonder how far will he get before beginning to wonder about the prize. These men are not his equals, either, and I fear that soon not even Freiga will bee enough to quieten his wild nature, and his wild..remorse, or whatever other wild and self destructive emotion subtitutes it...

I loved how "coldly" (reasonably, practically,) Canohando appointed his son to that almost hopeless task. Sigh. :-)

Author Reply: Yeah, quite the contrast between Canohando and Logi - the grandfather torn with emotion, but able to plan and reason "coldly" to do what must be done - and the younger Orc running wild, out of control...

Damned, damned and thrice damned - will the blood wash off with spit - don't think so.
Superb writing, loved "He drew a cloth from his pouch and started rubbing her down, feeling the smooth skin ripple under his hand, warm and alive."

the contrast with all that death is so strong. to be capable of love and to give in to hate. Not good at all.
Doomed, doomed.
Loving it
Rose

A perfect description of the Orc's situation! Glad you're loving it.
