Voices of Middle-Earth  by Armariel 170 Review(s)

Once again, how lovely. Luthien certainly helped carry on the tale of tales, the one that in the end caught up Hobbits of the Shire into the doings of the great and mighty, and she did it for love.

How sweet and proper as she looks forward to Sam's return! Beautiful, Armariel, and how wonderful to see this collection added to once more!

Absolutely fantastic! I love the rhythm and word-choice here, as well as the unique perspective on Gimli. Dwaves and poetry often don't seem to work well together, but here I thought they fit wonderfully. Excellent work.

Author Reply: Thanks Adonnen! After reading Gimli's description of the Caves, there could be no doubt in my mind that he had poetry in his soul. Which perhaps made him unique among dwarves!

That is absolutely beautiful.

Author Reply: Thank you Shirebound! Had this bunny in my head for a long time, I think it was Larner who put it there in the first place! So it was only fitting that it finally came out for her.

I have returned to this poem often in the long time since I first read it, and I cannot accurately describe to you the depth of my admiration for this work. As someone whose favorite character(s) tend to be written about rather rarely, I really appreciate how well you captured such a profound part of who I think is such an amazing character. The second stanza is, in my opinion, so striking in its frankness and so well crafted overall, and it leaves me with just the right kind of feeling after reading a lovely, yet melancholy, poem. Well done.

How did I ever manage to miss this one, Armariel? Oh, but as I always love your poetry, this is beautiful and fills my heart.

I miss your writing so!

Been a really long time since this was posted, but wow! I had to review. It was lovely, so lyrical, and your descriptions had a unique beauty of their own. Though decidedly freeverse, I still feel that it could fit in quite well with Tolkien's own writings. Lovely! :)

Author Reply: Thanks Violin Ghost! I really need to get back into the swing...maybe I will one of these days.......

Thanks for reviewing!

Those- all of them- were amazing. Wonderful images and writing. I just had a thought, though- would it be possible for you to reorder them so that they went in the order that they occured in?

Author Reply: Hi Mairi, thanks for reviewing! Well, I don't think I could reorder them without losing all the reviews and hit counts, etc. and besides, the collection is open to being added onto at any time the mood and the muse strikes me, so the order in which they now appear is simply the order in which they were written. On my website, however, I do have them grouped according to which character is speaking and on each character's page, they do appear in order of occurrance. (Which reminds me, I need to add some of them on soon!)

Thanks once again for the feedback!

Do a search under Bodkin for her story about the New Years celebration. Elladan, Elrohir, and Legolas become determined the Elves of Aman need to appreciate the sacrifices that led to the final victory against Sauron. I think you will like it.

Author Reply: Thanks, I will!
