Hobbits, indeed! Sounds more like my four brothers, if you ask me!! And I'd be Legolas, no doubt!! I absolutely loved it!
I don't write, read, or review fanfic that often, but this was beyond worth it!!! I actually really did laugh out loud!!
This is coincidental, because, in a recent email conversation, Legolas, Frodo, & Sam had gotten into a heated argument over how "that strawberry-flavoured shampoo" got in Legolas' backpack. What surprises me, is that.....that's nearly how it "happened": Frodo put the stuff in Legolas' bag, everyone thought Pippin did it, and then Frodo got the bottle dumped on his head!!! Of course....Sam wasn't quite as Sam-like as he really would've been. He got a good portion of shampoo in his eyes for teasing Frodo.
Anyhow, I loved it!!!!
p.s. Hobbits rule the world!!

I read this in the school library and had to stifle giggles all the way through. I did receive some odd looks, but it was worth it. Much more interesting than history homework...

I love this even more for the story behind it! Oh, how many times have my friends and I done that? Stayed up long, long into the night and coming up with good stories until we're so tired we'll laugh at anything, and then are too hysterical to go to sleep! :)

*shrieks with laughter* Oh dear me! Sounds as if they're having quite the adventure. Hmmm...you know, they don't need Orcs and Wargs and Balrogs; I think pranks are quite enough to keep things interesting. LOL! Very well done, and especially since the story was conceived at such an...unlikely hour! :) (I do it too.)

Wonderful story! I laughed out loud at the end. I never suspected Frodo. I love how you make Frodo out as fun-loving as his cousins in your stories. I look forward to more.
Author Reply: Hi, Map! Thank you for the review. Yes, poor Frodo often gets overlooked in the playing of pranks. It is that innocent face that we now gift him with, I think. I also think he might well take advantage of that, and sink to a level of sneakiness that his younger cousins cannot (yet) aspire to. Even a Ring-bearer has to cut loose once in a while...

HEHEHEHEHEHEHEHEHEHEHEHEHEHEHEHEHEHEHEHEHEHEHEHEHEHEEEEE! HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA! MUAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAAA! You are devious. I laughed my butt off!!!
Author Reply: I gathered that from your reviw, Galimeril! I'm so glad you enjoyed this story. I was hesitant about posting it, as it does deal with ... well, with bathroom humor. What 'real' writer uses such a subject! That was the challenge. I didn't want to offend anyone, and I'm so glad that no one seems to be disgusted or offended. Thank you for having such a good sense of humor!

ooooh my! what fun this was! to see Legolas return some of the pranks was just hilarious, even if out of character. it didn't matter, it didn't seem that was the point of this. this was for fun, and it truly was. I loved how Gimli just smiled and turned his back, lol! And Aragorn having to beg Legolas to cease and desist - "unless they start it" LOL! I loved seeing Legolas act a little immature.
And I suspected it was Frodo! I felt so vindicated!! But I did feel a bit sorry for Merry...
don't stop now! keep writing!
Author Reply: Hullo, Docmom! Good for you on targeting Frodo as the mischief-maker. I think he was counting on being overlooked as the prankster. You bring up a good point about Merry - 'my' Merry has been known to hold a grudge. *flips open notebook and makes a quick note* Maybe Merry should have HIS revenge. If the story ever does get told, I'll be certain to dedicate the tale to you. Thank you!

Oh that was too funny! I don't think I have ever laughed that much in reading one story! I think the first prank was my favorite! Pippin biting Merry like that really had me going, and waking up the whole camp for it! Pippins work at getting Merry back his button was fantastic! That Legolas was seeking retribution on the wrong hobbit(s) was great! I guess you shouldn't be so quick to reveal yourself! Thank you for such a great story!
Author Reply: There's a story behind this tale, Hai. I was fortunte enough to spend a few days in June with five other hobbits, writer-friends who had all met through our writing in the LotRs genre. It was first time some of us had met, but we loved each other instantly. Sometime around 2 a.m., our youngest hobbit started saying how funny a story along these lines would be, and acting out the scene where Pip bites Merry's arm. I don't know how it got started, but by 3:30 a.m., we were laughing so hard we were long past silly. Somehow I got stuck with writing the story, and "This Too Shall Pass" was the result. Which only goes to show the madness that ensues when we all get together!

I never would have guess that it was Frodo who was playing all the pranks. And he let poor Merry take the blame! Great story, and it was fun to see a playful side of Frodo.
Author Reply: Hi, Pebbles! Couldn't you just see Frodo snickering to himself while Gimli and Lrgolas accused his innocent cousins! Of course, Merry should have put it together with that sharp mind of his. All the clues were there - Frodo's tiredness (from staying up at night to pull pranks), the missing shirt-laces and piece of Pip's cloak (which he and Pip didn't take), and Frodo's history as a prankster. I'm rather curious to find out exactly what all the offended parties did to him...

Great, funny little story--creative pranks and excellent dialogue. A great laugh to start the morning.
