A lovely chapter for reading just before light's out.

oh that's so sweet naming the babies after Frodo's parents. What a loving fic! =)

Author Reply: Thank you! It seemed to me that it would be just the sort of tribute Frodo could appreciate--far more than naming one of them after him.

"Loving"! That's a very nice thing to say, because that is the tone I strive for with my hobbits!

Lovely. That's exactly the kind of thing that Frodo would have liked.

Author Reply: Yes, Frodo was at the point in his life where he could not really appreciate tributes to *himself*, but he would never cease to appreciate a tribute to those whom he loved--and naming the babies after his parents, was, I am sure, something that would have touched him deeply.

Aaw! Now that is the perfect tribute, and if that isn't sweet of Pimpernel! :) Now I'm interested to know if the little ones grew up to be anything like their namesakes. :)

I love this:

“Sam Gamgee--if you think I am going to put up with you waiting on me hand and foot for months--you are absolutely right!”

*bursts into giggles* Yes, Rose, take advantage of it. Of course, you'll have twelve more opportunities...LOL!

I like the way you do Frodo post-quest. I've read "Too Deeply Hurt" before, but maybe I need to again, for good measure, because I still have a hard time and I feel like I'm being inconsistent.

Lovely fic! As usual I wish it was longer. :)
God bless,
Galadriel

Author Reply: Well, Pimpernel overheard a few things during the Ball in "A New Reckoning" that gave her a new appreciation for Frodo and all he had done. I've not really gone forward to see what they twins grow up like, though...yet. 8-)

*grin* Rose doesn't know that yet, though, does she?

I am glad that you like my post-Quest Frodo. I try to show his physical decline as gradual, with rather sharp drops after each illness. And I try to show that his emotional withdrawal from his own life never really affected the core of him, where his love and protectiveness of others is as strong as it ever was. The happiness of his loved ones still gives him pleasure, even though he cannot make the leap to having happiness of his own...

And there is nothing wrong with the occasional inconsistency. People aren't consistent all the time, in RL. Why should they be in fic?

That exchange, when they are going up to Great Smials, and what Merry muttered -- oh, that hurt my heart. But the ending is just so wonderful and it made me so terribly, and wonderfully, happy -- it healed up that bit of hurt. Gorgeous, really.

Author Reply: Don't you know, Merry and Pippin as well, had to sort of resent the fact that they got all this adulation when they knew just what Frodo had been through. I'm glad you liked the ending. Really, Frodo's not able to enjoy praise for himself, but a tribute to his loved ones would really be touching for him.

Very nice story! I loved the gift Frodo got at the end... warm fuzzies all around!

Author Reply: Thank you very much. I wanted warm fuzzies; Frodo deserves all of them he can get!

Very good.... Pippin was so worried, and he is schock to see the assistant healer there as well... Frodo's prediction came true, I wonder how he knew...
Naming the babies after his parents was well done....

Author Reply: Pippin was worried because he was so far away, and of course it was a surprise to know that the healer's apprentice was staying there.

We know that Frodo predicted most of Sam's children; I just have him do the same thing for his cousin a bit earlier. I think that Frodo had grown very "Elven" during the course of his journey. He seemed to have gained in his insight and foreknowledge.

I thought that this would be an honor that would touch Frodo even more than having one of them named after him. Also, I wanted to kind of make up for the fact that Frodo cannot carry on his father's line for him. This is, to me, one of the saddest things about Frodo.

Ah, how sweet! Two weeks really isn't that early even for a single birth, though I guess maybe back in those days it would be. I figured she would name the girl Primula, since she was going to name the boy Drogo. How wonderful for Frodo. And a nice, subtle introduction to Diamond. Will there be a story involving her sometime soon then?

Author Reply: I toyed with having it be even earlier, but I really did not want to endanger the infants; Pippin's worry would be natural for a brother far from the event. Especially if he would remember what he had been told of his own early birth. I have a little idea on Diamond, but it's going to have to percolate for a little while.

Oh lovely, another Dreamflower tale.

I know every fanfic writer has to put in a disclaimer re not owning the characters, etc. But there is Tolkien-canon ,and then there is Dreamflower-canon. And the second is very close to the first, IMHO. Which does make it hard for me to read others' hobbit stories at times. I keep having to remind myself that just becuse another writer has a different take on the characters of Saradoc, Paladin, et.al., it doesn't *necessarily* mean that they are AU, or just plain wrong!

Author Reply: Oh my word! I think I'm blushing! What a lovely compliment! I do try very hard to stay as close to canon as I can, as I consider these stories to be a tribute to JRRT, but I have to admit that they are very slightly AU by accident ( as in misreading Reginard's age, and making him too old ) and by design ( as in Tolkien says Frodo did nothing more as Deputy Mayor than re-establish the postal service and reduce the number of Shirriffs whereas my Frodo also had to help negotiate for the King ). But I also enjoy the take other writers have on many of these characters, and some of those writers have sort of influenced my own take on them. Thank you so much for your kind review!

Oh, beautiful! I loved reading it. Except it's too short . . . please write more, right away, so we can all have our daily bit of hobbit love . . . I really like the way you have the characters; very Tolkienish. Great job.

Author Reply: Thank you very much. That is the greatest compliment you could give me!
