Oh, I LOVED this! First of all, humblest of all apologies for not reviewing much lately. I’ve spent most of July so far in hospital, but I got out again last night and fingers crossed that’s it now. Anyway, I’m trying to catch up all that I missed and I was thrilled to see this in my inbox!

I’m guessing poor Elisiel will be having words with her husband about watching what he says in front of their small son! I actually really liked the way she explained the situation to Legolas. She couldn’t have known that he would have felt the need to help as his father had obviously done for him and his friend!

That image of Legolas perched on the cushions and stretching across the desk was so cute!

“This is for you, from Lord Elrond I believe.” I’m still laughing at the way Thranduil just sits there in silence before handing over the scroll, almost as though he can’t quite believe what has happened. I can only imagine what Elrond must have thought when he received his letter from Mirkwood. I have to admit, I don’t really get why Legolas wrote it about “Ada” and then signed Thranduil’s name. I probably just didn’t read it properly. Anyway, it’s true that really the only thing that Legolas did wrong was to send a message with the king’s signature. At least Thranduil can be sure that the lesson he tried to teach Legolas when he argued with Tathar was well understood! It’s so funny the way Legolas is so surprised that his father and Elrond tell him the same thing. The poor elfling seems to have no clue that Thranduil received his own scroll from his dear friend.

Elrond’s words to Thranduil made me smile. He does indeed seem to know his friend very well and appears to be very aware of what may be said about himself from time to time. I don’t doubt for a second that similar sentiments have been expressed by the ‘insufferable Peredhel’ about a certain woodland king on occasion.

This was a lovely episode from Legolas’ childhood. It was so sweet, but I particularly loved the way the friendship between Thranduil and Elrond shines through as well! :-)

Author Reply: I am sorry to hear you have ben ill, Dot and I hope all is well with you.

In answer to your comment re Legolas... he is only a young child and although he 'meant' the write the letter as if it were from Thranduil, he is not experienced enough with the written word to be deceptive. He thinks of Thranduil as his Ada, and so he wrote the appellation. It has been my experience that young children often suffer this kind of confusion of identity when asked about their parents' given names, although he did remember to sign Thranduil's name at the end. He is simply too innocent to see the error he made, which of course made it all the more amusing, (and adorable) to both Elrond and Thranduil.

I hope that makes my intention a little clearer.

Be well Dot, or at least seek the healing services of Elrond, Celeborn, or Thranduil separately or in any combination you choose! "smirk"

THAT was just too darn cute! Loved it and wouldn't mind seeing more in this vein in the future. *vbg*

Author Reply: Thanks. If you have not already read it, my story "Elf Child" is a series of 'little Legolas' vignettes.
