Reflections from the Paradise of Elves  by Bodkin 7 Review(s)

hmm hmm!!! All piles of manure are not created equal! Let's just see what's afoot..........................

Author Reply: Some piles of manure could be scented with roses - or covered with honeysuckle. Whereas some are just deep and malodorous. But if Celebrian is laughing . . . . .

I get to marry Legolas! I get to marry Legolas! And I didn't even write the story *grin*

I've been lurking since this was still in separate parts, enjoying all the humour, but the shock of seeing someone named Elerrína described as the wife of Legolas was enough to make me shake myself and review :) I love all the events with which you have managed to occupy those three...seems Valinor isn't quite as boring as they feared ;) Your versions of the twins and their friendship with Legolas are great: I'm looking forward to seeing where this goes to!

Author Reply: Who is the lucky one! I hope it is as good in reality as in imagination.

I spent ages poring over lists of words trying to come up with suitable names -which is practically impossible. In fact, my initial thought was no-one beginning with E as there are already two of them - and then Elerrina came up as Quenya for star-crowned and it just seemed to have the right rhythm.

I think they still find some of life a bit tedious - there's not much action - but true lurve has distracted them rather.

It's not really going anywhere - simply meandering along. But it's fun to write.

oooooooooh! You've created the same uneasy tension in your "Signs" that exists in the movie "Signs"....all hints and waiting - one elf looking at the other and asking, "Did she really say that?" Considering it was Celebrian and Galadriel, they have every reason to be nervous! :D Leave it to Elladan to drag the other two "where no elf has ever gone before" (at least these 3 *g*). I have been thoroughly enjoying these vignettes - or chapters? You have captured the moods of three of my favorite characters perfectly as they adjust, not only to life in a new land totally different from what they've grown up in, but also to that wonderful, bewitching, and bothersome state known as LOVE! It couldn't happen to three nicer elves! LOL

Author Reply: They are a naive bunch in some ways - if it doesn't come with a large sword, threatening their lives, they don't really understand. I think they are a bit lacking in comprehension when it comes to feminine subtleties - and it makes them nervous.

But they have each other - in a Musketeer way. It's good to have friends you can count on to be there for you.

I like that you have feisty Celebrian too. I think these overgrown elflings better watch out - Naneth and Daernaneth are very clever and will have fun at their expense - and now they have daughter-in-law's to help!

I'm actually pitying LE2 :D

Author Reply: Clever indeed - I quite like the idea of them having daughters-in-law to play with. On the whole LOTR is overly short on females - (except in family trees).

They don't know what they are letting themselves in for here . . . but they will soon discover!

Trust Elladan to still be seeking for something more! The other two seem far more content - and I love Elrohir's words about knowing they'll be together for always. Elladan's right, he *is* a romantic!

Celebrian and Galadriel are plotting together? That sounds Very Bad for Elladan - and, by default, for the others as well.

Author Reply: Elladan strikes me as more restless than Elrohir - it's not that he's not happy, but he just wants to be in the middle of something.

And Elladan is right to be nervous.

LOL! I love the idea of Celebrian and Galadriel simply smiling at future trouble for these three. You've shown three distinct characters for them, which is nice given how few words you use.

Author Reply: It would make me feel pretty nervous if Galadriel offered one of those enigmatic 'I am gifted with foresight' smiles. As would unexplained laughter -sends shivers down your spine!

Ah yes, want adventure, a challenge to stretch even the bravest of souls, to push you five inches past what you thought was the end of your patience - folks, I give you - parenthood. Ta dA.

Ha ha aha a aha a.
demented laugh trails off stage left

Author Reply: At last - a challenge for Elladan that could leave Elrohir and Legolas smirking in the sidelines!

I share naneth's laughter and daernaneth's knowing look.
