WONDERFUL ENDING TO A WONDERFUL STORY!!!!! I burst out laughing when Merry said,"Not a word." Oh, gosh that was funny! You have to write another story like this! This is the third story I have read of yours and it was just as good as the others(although I don't know how Where Roses Grow ends..another great story!) Once again, terrific story!

Author Reply: Oh, you've made my day, Hobbits Soul! I do love this little tale, and I'm glad that another was able to enjoy it. Thank you for all your kind words of encouragement--in every single chapter! :-O Few people realize that leaving a review takes time...and I thank you for every single one. :-) Have a wonderful, blessed weekend, and thank you for reading The Storyteller!

Adelard and lasses! It is very funny! This is just a question..what do wheelchairs look like in the Shire? Are they made of wood? Just wondering....great chapter!

Author Reply: I felt I was exploring Paladin's childhood sweetheart story with Eglantine in the "present" world, why not show at leas a slightly hormonal Adlelard? No harm done, except for him looking at the lasses--no matter what "kind" they were! Elf lasses, hobbit lasses...just lasses in general! :-P

Wheelchairs...I'd have to say yes. Most everything was made from wood, and I believe wheelchairs were no different. Wheelchairs did exist way back yonder. They were fashioned a bit differently than the ones you see today; I envisioned a higher back, flatter wooden wheels (hard on the backside!), and made of a lighter but sturdy wooden material. No good pushing a heavy-weight! My best guess is to plunk in the phrase "wheel chair, history" into your search engine and you may find more than you'll ever want to know! :-)

I love what you did with the pink seashell! It was so sweet! Great chapter..sort of sad..but good.

Author Reply: Yes...the lovely pink seashell...there had to be "living" proof of his little journey. A souvenir, if you will. :-)

You know--I've had to re-read this story in order to keep up with you! It's been a while since I last read it, and I've noticed a couple errors that I need to repair in the coming days, but I also noticed that I ought to show a little better the emotions of Adalgrim and Flambard. Yes, they were angry--and most parents would be if their teenagers had taken off to places unknown. But more than that, both fathers were relieved to see that their lads had returned safe and unharmed. Paladin and Adelard's punishments could wait until they had at least arrived home. The heartache of missing home, parents, and children was a bit of what I wanted to convey.

Thank you, Hobbits Soul! :-)

Pippin! He's so cute! Him and the firewood and also the puddles! My little cousin does that all the time...jumping in puddles and getting in trouble! And Merry is so sweet...he's great, too! I feel like I know so much about Paladin, just from your story.Great work!

Author Reply: Pippin being five years old...I couldn't resist! :-) Your little cousin sounds like he could be Pippin's cousin, too...LOL! Merry *is* a sweet and thoughtful (and mischievous!) young lad--I'm glad you like him! Paladin...I always imagined "Like Father, Like Son" (sounds like a great movie, too!), so if we think that Pippin is loving, sweet, a mischief maker, clever, and loyal to the end, then I believe he learned it all from his father. Pippin is a mirror-image of Paladin--and then some! Thank you Hobbits Soul for taking the time to read through this wee tale!

I love running up and down the beach..it's so much fun! I hope there will be no more half orcs or any other evil creature...they give me the creeps, especially Nazguls....brrrr.=)Love the chapter!

Author Reply: Well...there you have one "up" on me! I love the ocean, but I only like the beach at sunset or sunrise, walking on the wet part. I don't particularly like the gritty little bits inside my sandles, hair, or elsewhere! :-P

No, no more Orcs...except a dead one. Thanks again! :-)

Another great chapter! I don't know how Hobbits could fear boats...my uncle has a boat and I ride on it whenever I have a chance! It's so much fun!

Author Reply: Actually, the hobbits around Buckland are *not* afraid of boats...that is how Frodo's parents died--in a boating accident. And when the hobbits and company leave Lothlorien, Merry tells Celeborn...or was it Galadriel?, but he firmly stated that he was not afraid of boats and could handle one.

Yes--I like boats, too! I have a love for the ocean imbedded in my blood... I don't sail anymore, but I love the ocean.

Gandalf and Elves...wonderful! I like Hobbits the most , but it's good to have Elves and Wizards once in awhile! When Sara kissed Essie, I bet Pippin and Merry shriveled up their noses and cringed!!! Funny, little Hobbit lads!

Author Reply: LOL...I *did* entertain that thought, however, they already "Eewwed" the kiss at the wagon some chapters ago. :-) Gandalf was desined for this story at the inception, but Thorongil and the Elves only came in when I read of their happenings in the appendices. Thanks for reading!

Cute, little Pippin! "They had to get married..they kissed!" What a Pipish thing to say! The story is getting really exciting!

Author Reply: This is my "canon" Pippin, if you will. Cute, clever, witty, spoiled rotten by his "pen mom", and an all-round delightful hobbit...Merry coming in right behind him! ;-)

Who are the dark riders?! Are they Orcs? I guess I'm going to have to read further on to find out. Great chapter...like usual.:)

Author Reply: Yes, you will eventually see "who" it was that was chasing them in the next chapter... I got some of the material for Gandalf and Thorongil in the appendices, as I did for Seahobbit...which is a sort of "prequel" to this story. Thanks for reading! :-)
