My Sword Trembles - Book Three - 'My Sword' Series  by Agape4Gondor 6 Review(s)

His twin laughed. “Arwen fed him too well these past months. I think we should have a word with her.”
“She will not listen. She has never listened to a thing we say.”
haha
“Mayhap it is still the shock and grief of his brother’s death. I do not know how I would react to your death.”
“Thank you. I hope neither one of us has to face that dilemma.”
“You are most welcome…” haha. It is interesting how most people I have read write them humourous, but they are great warriors on a path of revenge/justice.
“Nay. I think Estel would have found a way out. He is resourceful and has been taught by the best.”
“Elladan began to laugh. “You are most modest.”
“I speak the truth. Glorfindel and Erestor raised him well.”
“Ah! So we had no hand in the man he has become?”
“I will not take credit,” Elrohir smiled, “for anything Estel does. I have been in too much trouble because of him too many times. Do you remember the time he tried to raft down the Bruienen after that storm? I was sure father was going to resurrect Angmar and send us there as punishment for letting him get away from us.”
“I remember it too well.” Aragorn’s voice was rough but sound. “I have a scar from the branch that tried to eviscerate me. I am glad to see you both.”
heehee. Did I already say how Faramir and Aragorn wake up at the best moments?

“We stopped to visit Arwen. She says you only left her at Mettarë?”
“Yes. I stayed longer than I had planned.”
Both Elves began to laugh.” Ah, so this is right after the trothplighting in Lorien?

“If the three of us concentrated, I think it is possible. Elrohir, do you remember the Song of Power that daernaneth taught us long ago?”
“I remember. Estel, do you know it?”
“Finrod’s?” he shivered as he spoke the name. “I do.”
“We sing a part of Finrod’s then and make it our own, suitable for our needs here and now. All three together. Prepare the athelas. We need every tool we have.” Elladan stood, somehow taller, Aragorn thought.”
Oh boy! That is one of my favorite CDP songs!! And Celeborn taught them? —Not Galadriel? Oh, Galadriel did teach them, I got confused for a second, haha. Interesting.
Nice timing on the lightning’s part, I am sure. Lol. I hope they are all right.

So, Estel got Elrohir and Elladan in trouble did he. I never thought much about Estel’s childhood. I loved the idea of them getting into mischief even though I am sure Elrod did not. I wonder how he would have handled them.

That was some spell they evoked. I hope it worked.

P.S. I'm going to post this reply on Prim's board and I will all others in the hope of encouraging more readers.

Author Reply: Ah - there are so many writers here, Tari, who really 'know' what Estel and the twins used to do during Estel's maturing process.... mine is a vague shadow of that. I bow to them.

And I thank you ever so much for your comments - and the one on that other board...

That's what I call a real cliffhanger ending! I like the usage of a song-spell; very Tolkienesque.

Let's hope none of the fellows got fried by the lightning, or this story will become even more AU...

Author Reply: It was reading Fiondil's work that reminded me of the Songs of Power - did a little research and felt Galadriel would know them - DUH! And she might very well have shared them with her grandsons...

Thanks for reading and reviewing!

Ah, a song of power has called the trees to react and the lightning to fall? Most interesting! Now to see what comes of it all! And glad to see the reinforcements arrive.

Author Reply: Poor Aragorn has yet the wit about him to see what a blessing his brothers' arrival is!

And yest - the Song of Power is potent....

Ah... so that's how you incorporated the Song of Power... cool and very appropriate that it would be Galadriel who would know it as well and teach her grandchildren. Loved it that Elrohir and Elladan are in this story. And Mithrandir wants to see Aragorn, huh? I can just imagine why given the time line. Great chapter. Let's hope the threesome haven't gotten fried trying to help poor Faramir.

Author Reply: Yup! Very glad you approved. I needed that! And I loved that it was Galadriel who taught them - it just seemed perfect. I wish I had your way with Songs of Power... to me it fell a little flat... but it knocked the three of them on their behinds, didn't it? ROTFLMAO

Whoa! I did not expect that ending, meldenya! A most excellent chapter. Poor Aragorn and poor Faramir, they are both in a fix aren't they? I was never so glad to see Elladan and Elrohir show up (though it took me a bit to realise that was who they were before their names were actually mentioned). I hope that the Song worked and the spell on Faramir is broken, and that the results of the singing the Song on Aragorn and his brothers isn't damaging or long lasting. Great job!

Edlyn

Author Reply: *blushes furiously* Thanks Edlyn!

I wasn't expecting that either - and neither were the sons of Elrond, I can assure you! Else they might not have tried it.

I had planned on the 'rescuer' being Gandalf - but the muse had other ideas... hence the 'mystery' of who it/they was/were. :-)

Again - many thanks for the kind words!
