When Legolas invites me to see something he has found in the woods of Lothlorien, I am puzzled. Why does he wish my company? And even more, why do I grant it?

He shows me a grove of blossoming trees, and underneath, a lovely small cave.

"I have thought long on the Lady Galadriel's words," he says. "And then I saw this grove and this cave. There is beauty above, and beauty below. Both are part of this world. I thought, how useless that they should be at odds. I cannot speak for my people, Gimli, but for myself, I would be friends."

For answer, I give him my hand.
