When Merry emerges at last, dressed for the party, Pippin takes one look at the bright yellow and green decorating his middle, and staggers, arms held out in front of him. "Help!" he cries dramatically. "I've gone blind!"

"I'll have you know this waistcoat is from the finest material in Mrs. Goold's shop," Merry replies with dignity.

Frodo cups a hand to his ear. "What was that? I couldn't hear you over your waistcoat."

"You should talk, you great dandy. Really, maroon velvet, Frodo? This is a naming, not a mayoral banquet." Merry lifts his chin, ignores his cousins' snickers, and leads the way.
