Upon First Viewing Jackson's Lord of the Rings  by Lily Fairbairn

Upon First Viewing Jackson's Lord of the Rings

Much have I travelled in Middle Earth
And many hobbit holes and kingdoms seen;
Through many fiction Fangorns have I been
Where fans in fealty show their worth.
Oft of one wide-spread screen had I been told
That glib Hollywood rules as its domain:
Yet never did I hear its true refrain
Till I saw Jackson's vision, loud and bold:
Then felt I like a watcher of the skies
When a new star mirrors the Valar's light;
Or like brave Frodo, when with awestruck eyes
He gazed a Cerin Amroth---so that we might
Look at each other with this same surprise,
Grateful, upon a peak in Lorien.
