Just a quick note to tell you I'm enjoying your story. I'm a fan of your DBZ works and was thrilled to find this. It was a bit slow to get into, but that may also be the learning curve of the fandom (I only know the movies). Once it gets going, however, it drags you in and keeps you there. Brava! I noticed quite a few mistakes (typos, homonyms, etc.) Do you need a beta for this story? I would be pleased to help if you do. I've left me email if you need one.

I fell in love with your DBZ fics, and I have found your LOTR fics even more endearing. You wrote Legolas and Eowyn true to form and in prose that leaves me breathless for the next chapter.

Oh, I'm so glad to see the next chapter is up! This is a wonderful story, and though the pairing is not one I would usually go for, it's beautifully done. I don't like the thought of Legolas having to die for being in love with a mortal though. After all, of the three canon Elf/mortal couples, two (Beren and Luthien, and Aragorn and Arwen) ended quite miserably. But in the third (Idril and Tuor), the mortal went off to life everlasting with the Elf. I don't suppose that you're planning on evening up the score? And I really love what you've done with Eowyn. She was always my favourite from the LOTR universe, and it's nice to see something that really focuses on her for once. I think she needs to apologise to her poor brother though, for running off and letting him think that she's dead!

Hi! I really like what you've written so far. The chapters are nice and long and very well written. The fact that it is a AU doesn't spoil anything and we can't take anything we know from cannon for granted. I hope you will update soon, you left us with a nasty cliffhanger. Alright so it wasn't exactly a cliffhanger, but still I can't wait to read the next chapter :) Happy writing!

The Karenator · 5 November 2003 · Chapter 1: The Widows of Rhunballa

erin, This is quite an interesting story. It took a wide turn I didn't expect when I read the first chapter. Of course, I realized it was AU, but I didn't realize that Eowyn would become the mother of an Amazon tribe! (I mean that in the best possible way!) You have created some incredible OC's with very realistic personalities. The entire plot is well thought out and put to paper in a concise and well written manner. The dark haired elf of the Hunters was a strangly captivating character and wholly frightening. The battle scene and the confusion of who was who was very well done. I think war scenes are hard to write and you put on a good show! Well, now that Gimli and Legolas are back in the story...a little worse for the wear...it should liven things up...as though they were dull to start with. I look forward to seeing where you take this. :>) Karen

Hi Erin, I don't have time to read your story yet, but it looks very intriguing. However, I thought you might like to know about the typo I spotted in your story description: "guilded" should be "gilded", assuming you mean overlaid with gold. Hope to check back with some useful feedback, but probably not until next week. - Barbara

The Karenator · 12 October 2003 · Chapter 0: Prelude at Helm's Deep

Erin, What a lovely piece of writing. I love getting inside someone's head and you have done an expert job of capturing Eowyn's thoughts, emotions, fears and even the tiny lights of hope mingled in her despair. I felt her frustration with the societal constraints of her culture and her desire for a freedom she feels denied. While I don't think she understands what true freedom is all about, yet, I think she will find it when she recognizes that there are different types of freedom and only she can grant it to herself. I think Legolas tried to tell her that and it seems as if she understood part of what he was saying, but has, yet, to grasp the full measure of his words. You dealt well with the delicate portions of your stories. You drew a very vivid image of orc reproduction and Grima's intrusion into her dreams without sacrificing your voice, your characters' voices or turning your descriptions into gratuitous voyeurism. You handled it well. The scenes with Gimli were wonderful. You have a talent and I feel priviledged that you shared it with us. I look forward to the next chapter. Karen
