Andy,I am an avid gardener, and enjoy the toil that comes along with it. This is the 6th year that I have pleatnd vegetables. I grow things year-round, and have picked spinach, turnips and carrots in February I had to laugh at Erin's comments, as I have had a similar assessment of my produce when eating some mixed greens I pleatnd.I grew up in a home that had several small garden patches, scattered throughout the small lot the house stood on. My Grandmother insisted that we have a garden. Raising several children through the depression and then through WWII rationing, she always had her victory garden every year, right up until she passed away. It's not like we had bushel baskets of produce, but it was always nice to go pick some lettuce, a fresh tomato, and a cuccumber or two and have them with dinner. She had me start the seedling in the sun room , plant them in spring, and pull weeds all summer. Funny thing is, I never saw this as work .Last week, the WSJ had an article about the explosion in home gardens, due to the drive to eat organic and rising food costs. Makes sense to me. I just like to grow stuff we can eat. I like learning that comes through trial and error. I hope you and Erin keep it up.

What a wonderful story! I was reluctant to read an Eowyn/Legolas fic at first, but after becoming a fan of Ningloreth's E/L stories at Eryn-Carantaur, I really do love this pairing. When I read that your story was an inspiration to Ningloreth, I just had to read it. Let me say, your fic has been nothing short of amazing. You write with great attention to detail and language that makes your story so rich and wonderful to read. Thank you for sharing your gift of writing with us, hopeless addicts of LOTR fanfic. Please keep up the great work!

Amadoni · 23 April 2008 · Chapter 6: The Sword of Daylight

I'm fairly new to the LOTR's fandom and have taken a liking to this pairing. I must say that you have made a very believable and well-rounded story. I enjoyed it greatly. Thank you.

dreamingkat · 4 April 2008 · Chapter 0: Prelude at Helm's Deep

good work; I was quite impressed with the whole story, and would be interested in reading the sequel, should it ever be written.

Feilan · 27 March 2008 · Chapter 6: The Sword of Daylight

Whenever I come across (especially) these passages (yes, I do read this story or parts of it now and then): Quote: Earendil's words grew fainter, a distant echo, like a voice calling across the glassy plane of a wide lake. Fare thee well, Eowyn of Rohan. There are great deeds behind thee, but greater still before thee. Be brave, and do not fear to love. In the end, it is what matters most... and: This message Mithrandir bade Earendil carry to us all. 'Be watchful, my young friends, but do not jump at shadows. I cannot say with utter surety, but I believe the dark power we have sensed stirring in Arda may already be known to you, at least in part. He will come in a form that is pleasing. He will not strike with brute force for he is yet weak. He will seek to destroy Gondor and all his enemies in more subtle ways. Be ware, and trust your hearts in discerning friend from foe. Do not refuse the hand of those who seek redemption. Make haste to Gondor, Aragorn, for this enemy will make himself known within the year. Do not fear for Arwen and the babe. They are already under the wing of a strong protector, though they do not know it. Farewell! I send my blessing and my love! If I could, I would return to aid you, but my time in Middle Earth is finished.'" Legolas paused. "I will have some pivotal part to play in this matter, though what or how Mandos did not reveal." and: "Then rise, Eowyn, Knight of Gondor." The words resounded eerily in her head as though some vital piece of an intricate puzzle puzzle had just fallen into place. This was another link in the chain of Earendil's prophesy, she thought with a chill. The prophesy to which she was now irrevocably shackled. Yet she stood, smiling bravely, seeing the answering flicker of unease in Aragorn's eyes. Whatever had just passed he had felt it, too. End quote ...as I said when I read this I always get so excited and giddy at the prospect of the sequel "Knight of Gondor". So many possibilities for the main and side plots, for the development of the characters and what else! From your answers to your reviewers at the end of your last chapter I deduce that you had at least a rough draft. Sure, you also warn it takes time but - and I quote you: "Abandon? Never! "Knight of Gondor" may take a while, but it will come." But that was over 3 and a half year ago. You also encouraged your readers to write to you and you seemed interested in what your readers thought about your story - but you never answered since then, neither on the review board nor in form of a new "chapter", why is that? Your didn´t even post a short notice saying that you have - for what ever reason - given up on LotR fanfiction, again, why? As I mentioned above, I read the story once in a while again. And often I come across little details (in description, in speech/thoughts of the characters and so on) I never seemed to have noticed before and I am again impressed with your skill in writing and imagination. I was also pleased at your "courage" to free yourself from Tolkien-canon where this was necessary for your characterisation and storyline. So, I think it´s such a loss and a great pity to give up this story which you put so much effort, time and commitment into. I doubt that you still read any of your reviews since you never react but I thought I give it a try - again, and nudge you a little bit. And if you see me as a nuisance because of that then say so and give us a sign of life.

This sounds a bit fangirlish, but you ROCK. I just spent the past three days having to tear myself away from this story to study.

AM · 18 December 2004 · Chapter 6: The Sword of Daylight

Just reread chapter 6 ... has wetted my appetite for the sequel. Waiting patiently. A wait I know will be well worth it.

darkkuno · 27 October 2004 · Chapter 6: The Sword of Daylight

Two words: Truly amazing. Tremendous grasp of character interactions. I don't think I have laughed so hard at anyone's writings in some time. The Gimli/Legolas interactions is so dead on I had to stop reading for a momment to keep from laughing myself to death. The raw emotion is so vivid and described so fully. Truly stunning work. I look forward to the continuing story.

AM · 4 September 2004 · Chapter 6: The Sword of Daylight

Thank you for a truly marvelous ending. I read most of it very misty eyed and savoured every word. I don't remember when I have enjoyed a story so much. Looking forward, eagerly, to the sequel and, if ever you have time, to the "prequel" you hinted at.

Artemis · 1 September 2004 · Chapter 6: The Sword of Daylight

Brilliant, Erin! We waited for quite a while and it was well worth it. Thank you for writing the only well-written E/L story out there.

LisaB · 31 August 2004 · Chapter 6: The Sword of Daylight

I get to be the first to tell you how wonderful this story was. You'd think, after all the stories by you I had read, I would know that what I expect will happen never does! The bit under the well totally caught me by surprise and I 'd totally forgotten about the sword . . . . As always, masterful storytelling, beautiful imagery and a lingering fullfillment long after the final word. I'm looking forward to the next story. Thank you for this one.

Artemis · 9 July 2004 · Chapter 5: Night and Madness

This story is splendid- though a fervent Eowyn/Faramir I am, I have actually been wanting to read a story like this for a long time- and as a plus, it's well-written! I agree with LisaB's review- it's not probable that you'd be able to finish such a complex story within that last chapter, and I am looking forward to the conclusion. If it may be drawn out, it's all the better- more reading pleasure for us! ^^

LisaB · 3 July 2004 · Chapter 5: Night and Madness

I was looking forward to a resolution, but as usual you are right---the story you have created cannot be told so quickly. The night battle was vivid--it held me spellbound as I read. I cannot wait to see what happens next, *sigh* but I know I must! Your updates take forever, but they are truly worth the wait. I really think you need a beta to catch your errors. Your work is too good to go out with the mistakes I find on a first reading. They aren't numerous, but they do jar the reader out of the story. I would be happy to help. beaudol@hotmail.com

Wow! That was awesome! I read it in one go. I have not read an E/L story before and I was hooked! Tell me, are you by any chance related to Anne Rice??? The idea of Vampire Elves blows my mind! I have heard of Dark Elves before, but this is definitely more deadly. Awww. So glad to see Thranduil save the day! I always liked him =)

Arryn/Sparky Cola · 1 July 2004 · Chapter 5: Night and Madness

Thank you!!!!!!! I have been looking forward to this chapter for months and I was starting to think you weren't going to finish it. I love the relationships that you have set up in here and the individual personalities of all the characters. You created so many of them but they all have their own identities instead of "random oc character". Great chapter! Please get the rest out soon? Arryn/SparkyCola

Octavia · 1 July 2004 · Chapter 5: Night and Madness

I'm so glad to see another chapter up! And I enjoyed it very much - especially Thranduil. It's good to see an Elf who isn't quite so... saintly, I think would be the word for it. He feels very well drawn out (I hope there's more of him coming up!). Really, really, good. I can't wait for the next one!

insignia · 30 June 2004 · Chapter 5: Night and Madness

So glad that you were able to update - I have been watching for the next chapter! And it was worth waiting for! What did I enjoy about it? You seem to me to have a really good handle on relationships between characters. I particularly liked the scene between Eowyn and Eomer where he asks why she left and Eowyn is forced to think about how she behaved but through Eomer's eyes, and sees that there is more than one way to interpret what she did. The scene where the power struggle is played out was also well done in my view. Eowyn emerges in charge, manque her own inclination, yet the line is still clearly drawn between Rhunballa and Gondor. This must be tricky for Eowyn to manage, given her stated loyalty to Aragorn. I also liked the play between Eowyn and Legolas about their new love. It was really funny to hear Eowyn's embarassment when she learned that Legolas had asked Aragorn about their love-making! I like how you present the actions of third parties as seen by Eowyn. I too was pleased that Legolas (and others) believed that Eowyn made her own decisions. But Legolas' action to defend her honour was nice to see and quite in character, I think, for the Mirkwood elf! I was a bit taken aback when Thranduil arrived - I wasn't expecting him. I thought that he would look quite a bit like Legolas, but obviously not in your story. I look forward to the next chapter. Good luck with school and work in the meantime, and thank you for the pleasure you have given your readers. insignia

AM · 30 June 2004 · Chapter 5: Night and Madness

A little misty eyed at the moment - hard to see the keyboard. Seeing this chapter was such joy. Reading it was both pleasure and pain: pleasure because it is beyond excellent and pain because I don't want this story to end. I really don't know if I want the next (last, waah) chapter soon or a long, long wait. The anticipation ... ! A thousand blessings on you and yours.

Cormak/Gwenneth · 30 June 2004 · Chapter 5: Night and Madness

I am SO happy that this story has been updated. I check the link here and on ff.net just about everyday in hopes that it has been updated. I was so afraid that this was an abandoned fic and I very happy to see that it is not. I worry for Legolas and Eowyn. I really love how you have written them, and I love their relationship, but after learning from Thranduil that their bond could disappear when the Queen has been killed, I am really worried. They have both gone through so much. They healed each other in many ways and I sincerely hope that they are able to stay together and marry. Looking forward to finding out what happens in the last chapter. Please don't keep us waiting long, though I do understand your reasons for the lack of a sooner update. I am a writer as well as an artist and I understand how real life can get in the way sometimes. Best of luck with the final chapter and when this tale has been spun, I hope that you will consider writing other E/L fics as you have a real knack for them as well as writing! Til next time!

Molly · 29 June 2004 · Chapter 5: Night and Madness

I've been watching for this for months and I was thrilled to see it arrive today. I love the way you portray Legolas and Eowyn's relationship and how they can't get enough of each other. And I was so proud of Legolas when he said "she belongs to herself." Even if they are doomed to be separated after death, that's no reason to not love each other while they have the time--like Thranduil says. It was a surprise to see him, but I'm glad he showed up. He obviously loves his son and respects Eowyn, and he can only help matters. This latest battle was harrowing--I can't imagine what the final one will be like! I'm on pins and needles. I hope most of the main characters live through it, although I know the fight will be anything but easy. I'm eagerly anticipating the last chapter!

AM · 14 June 2004 · Chapter 4: Sun, Fire and Shadow

Please, please, please finish this!

Gwenneth · 28 April 2004 · Chapter 4: Sun, Fire and Shadow

I've just spent the last few hours reading this story. What an incredible tale you have weaved! Your original characters are very three dimentional and realistic and you have kept Tolkien's characters very true. I almost cried when I discovered that the story was not finished. I hope that you will be updating it soon because I'm dying to read the final chapter! I must know what happens to Eowyn and Legolas! Wonderful work. Please continue to write, you are very talented.

Ella · 27 April 2004 · Chapter 4: Sun, Fire and Shadow

This is one of the most interesting and exciting AU-type fics I've ever read. And the E/L pairing is so enticing here. Please, please update soon. :)

LisaB · 3 March 2004 · Chapter 4: Sun, Fire and Shadow

Ahh! Beautifully done! At first I wasn't too sure about the pairing, but at usual you have pulled it off effortlessly. I'm sure the course of this true love will not run smooth from here. Now the angsty wait for Chapter Five. (Hmmmm, why do I get this feeling that I've done this before?)
