Nice winding in of Movie-verse here. Am glad his curiosity is now sated, and that he is at last in the safe hands of Aragorn. He and his companion are at last to receive the aid they so dearly need.

:) Thank you! I'm definitely a bookverse fan, but every now and then, I like to sneak in a reference to movieverse. Thank you for reading and reviewing!

Such a beautiful chapter though I always find familyrelations to be confusing yet highly interesting 😄Im interested in familyhistory and genealogy but I havent got around to really dig into my own. Someday I will:)
Rainiriel probably meant Legololas should listen to Estel ( Estel means hope did you know?:) ) and Gimli and I hope he will. They can surely ease his hearts pain somehow! :) I hope you will continue this story all the way to Valinor where Legolas can find answers too. Also I will read your other stories again, theyre full of humour and food for the mind.Thank you for the update!
Author's reply
Thank you! I'm not that into genealogy, but it was fun to explore Legolas's family line.
This story will not continue to Valinor. It's about done, just a few more chapters to wrap up some loose ends, but the series will extend to Valinor for certain, in fact I've already written several ficlets set there.
Thanks for reading and reviewing. I appreciate it. :)

Good to see this being continued at last, and good to hear from you!
At least he is now free of the threat of the rogue Men, and able to get Caeri to safety, with Aragorn and Gimli not far behind. And he is closer to understanding the nature of his youthful-appearing guide as well. Can Aragorn see her only due to his heritage and having been raised in Elrond's house?
Author's reply
My muse was really stubborn there for a while! :)
As for who can see her, that is explained in chapter 25! ;)

I love how you write. Especially the friendship and love between Legolas and Gimli. You are able to show an immense depth of feeling, without ever getting maudlin.
I adore your stories.

"A Whirlwind of vehement fierceness." Indeed! Your descriptions of fighting are intensely real. I liked how you got in to Legolass's head and showed us how his centuries of training keep him going. I am glad that Brigus finally saw the light in the end. In a way, his end reminds me a bit of Boromir's. By that point there was nothing he could do to go back and change the evil he had caused. So he did what he could to protect Prem and stop Jasper. You lead us to believe that Prem is now dead from the beating Jasper dealt him. But you do not come right out and say it. I have hope that when our friend the Healer King arrives that he may be able to help him! I love Gimli's relationships with both his pony and Legolass's very intelligent horse. I could hear the movie interchange from "Two Towers", where Gimli asks Aragorn to "don't tell the elf" and Aragorn replies "not a word"!
Author's reply
I also love the relationship between the Three Hunters. I'm glad you enjoyed the descriptions of the fighting! It's never easy to get into a warrior's head in the midst of battle!

Too bad Prem and Torel had to suffer as did the true brigands. At least Brigus felt remorse at what he'd done to Legolas and Caeri and perhaps to what he'd brought his brother and Prem. And Aragorn and Gimli apparently are almost there.

One more comment. You get the award for impressing us with the serious nature of rape to an Elf, but have done so discretely and with restraint. For them, it was indeed a violation of a SPIRITUAL nature. Nicely done.
Author's reply
Thank you!!!! I've seen it handled so poorly in so many stories! I find the implications of what impact such an act would have on an elf that Tolkien told us is something I'm interested in exploring. Although not in this story. I think I'll save that for the character studies I have planned for another character.

"Novice mistakes, indeed." Now, will the tending Caeri was able to give Legolass be enough to keep him strong just long enough? And, oh, Brigus, Brigus, are you really as bad and brutal as Jasper? Do you realize that Jasper would kill Prem, too? Hmm, odds now. Jasper, and Brigus, and the twins, against a bound, brutalized Caeri, a just beginning to heal Legolass, and two able bodied warriors who may or may not be close enough to get there in time. It is NOT looking too good for the good guys at the moment! And, you know just how to build the suspense and leave it hanging! I wonder, tho. Rani was able to pick up the knife and carry it to Legolass. Could she, perhaps, slip in during the fight and, say, untie Caeri? Gimli can not see her, and he is a good-hearted person. I really doubt that any of the ruffians could see her either, unless she wanted them too. Hmm, perhaps while Brigus and Jasper are busy fighting poor Lass, Prem might try to release her. Oh,oh! While he is trying to release her while the others are distracted, perhaps Jasper sees him, and goes roaring over to stop him. Perhaps bellowing something about "do I have to stop you like I did that fool Torel!" THAT might be one way for Brigus to learn the truth. In the mean time, HURRY, Aragorn and Gimli!
Author's reply
I think the tending Caeri gave Legolas will have to do as it appears Aragorn and Gimli are not to be found yet. O_o
I believe Brigus is acting out of anger and grief, trying to push his own blame under those emotions rather than facing the fact that Torel is dead because of his own selfish greed.
I have no doubts Jasper would kill Prem as well, but hopefully the boy is alert enough to prevent that.
Rani has her own agenda. Although, I do believe she would interfere if she had to, but would rather Legolas be the one doing the rescuing, because...well, she has her own agenda!
No, the men won't see Rani. She wouldn't want that. Again, it all boils down to she has her own agenda in all this which comes down to who she is. But I'll let Arwen tell that story in a few chapters...
Your musings about what could happen are very entertaining! I could have used your help when I was writing the story the first time around! :) But the tale is complete and just needing editing and polish. Patience! Aragorn and Gimli are VERY near by! :)
Thanks so much for reading!

Well, at least Rani was able to rescue his knife from the ruffians. (Which even more leads me to believe she is an Elven ghost!) Poor Brigus saddens me. Yes, you stubborn man, whoever actually killed him, ultimately it is YOUR fault for leading your younger brother into a life of crime. But now, Jasper has him believeing the lie about LEGOLASS being the one to kill his brother in cold blood. And if there comes a confrontation, it would just be wicked Jasper's word against Legolass's, and who will Brigus believe? It might almost be kinder for him if Aragorn and Gimli catch up to them first, and he is killed fighting one of them. Now, how far behind is our rescueing moose?
Author's reply
Ah, but can houseless ghosts pick up physical items? I don't think they can. But that's a really good guess and one of the closest I've ever had on her identity! It's a bit more complicated than that, and we're really close to finding out just who she is and just why she's interested in helping Legolas (and even how she knows who he is!)
Brigus is rather selfish and self centered, isn't he? Nothing bad that happens to him ever is his fault. It's always someone else. We all know people like that, don't we?
I don't think Aragorn or Gimli would even be remotely merciful to any of these men, except perhaps Prem.
I'm wondering where the moose went, myself. Seems to have just up and vanished. Or as Legolas said, wandered off.... ;)

So, she thinks her "Lass" may perhaps be one of Prince Legolass's captains from Ithilien. She is right, though. There is something about those trained to command that shines through even when they are "at rest". I have yet to meet a retired military officer who did not still have the authoritative bearing, and the respectful, precise way of addressing others. So, he would rest for her benefit, but not for his own. May I say, "typical stubborn male"?
Author's reply
Yes, she's slowly figuring him out, but wouldn't dare suppose he's Prince Legolas himself. That thought just wouldn't be plausible to her, mainly because she doesn't know Legolas! :)

Again, Miss Rani is acting, perhaps, like an unhoused spirit. Perhaps Legolass was at one time able to save members of her family from some danger, but was unable to save her. Hmmm. I can think of dozens of possibilities! At any rate, I am sure that Aragorn is glad for her help.

I don't like to give too much away in replies, but I must say you have come closer to figuring Rani out than any other reader, even when I posted this years ago (before the MUCH needed edits!)

I'm not sure she's really pieced it together yet. She knows he's someone of rank but she's not even considered he might be the son of the Elvenking. Son of a Lord, perhaps. But even in the midst of adversity, she's pretty good at puzzling out riddles. :)

Torel and Prem are good reminders that even Evil is never all black, or all white. They are well drawn, and real to me. Torel reminds me of a young ruffian in Lindalea's older story "A Matter of Appearances." In the story, Pippin's then 10-year-old son, Faramir, and his escort are attacked by ruffians intend on ransom from the Thain's rumored fortune. The escort is left for dead, and Faramir is taken. One young ruffian, though proves not to really be a bad man. He tries to protect Faramir, and in the end as rescue approaches and a fight breaks out ends up taking an arrow while protecting the lad. Your Torel stikes me as one who wandered out of rebellion, and a search for adventure, not out of a bad heart. Now to see how our two elves get out of this one!
Author's reply
I'm so glad you are finding the OCs to be believable! And yes, Torel was not a bad person, per se. Just misled.

Hey Nieriel,
Very nice chapter. very much enjoying the conversation between Legolas and Caeri.
Can't believe Legolas would entertain the old stereotypes about women, lol especially elves.
enjoyed the chapter very much.
Author's reply
Hi! Thank you so much for reading and reviewing!
As for Legolas and stereotypes, it's the time in which he lives. The elves were more liberal than other cultures, but I fear there are always women, in every culture, who seek out those of certain rank or celebrity, and in Legolas's case, that is both, especially since his role in the Ring War. (And he's unwed! *gasp!* ;) As Prince of Eryn Lasgalen, Lord of Asgarnen, friend of the King of Gondor and companion of the Ringbearer, there would be a fair number who would be trying to win his attention, and given he's nearly 2000 in my universe, he's a bit jaded, I fear. :o
