Well, that was a dust-up, to say the least. And yet it was necessary; the Valinorean Elves just do not have the background knowledge to understand the trouble gossip and rumor can do in this day and age. It can quickly and easily spread far beyond the borders of Wiseman considering things like Facebook and Twitter. And not all of it would have to be malicious either! All it would take is an over-enthusiastic person who "confides" something online to a few "friends"... (Thankfully it seems there are Maiar keeping a handle on that part of it so far!) I look forward to seeing what comes next. The sooner the rest of the Elves have jobs the better. And working in retail or some other customer service related job might very well be the best thing for many of them. It's certainly helping Finrod to learn more quickly!

Author's reply

Hi Dreamflower. Yes, quite a dust-up, but totally necessary. Hopefully they'll get the message. As for how things go from here, that remains to be seen. Thanks for taking the time to leave a review. It's much appreciated.

Ellie · 17 February 2014 · Chapter 15: What Happens in Edhellond Stays in Edhellond

"Daeron, either less impressed or simply a better actor, gave them a brief smile and said, “I’ll just put the coffee on, shall I?” " Love Daeron here. I like it that Vorondur snagged a scone. I suspect that in that group no one delicately delects one from the tray. LOL! The valinor elves have an awful lto to learn about the mortals of today, don't they . Oh my wiht Gilvagor's comment and all. WOW! Fionwe failed to inform them of things? LOL! a decided lack of respect between the elves of Wiseman adn Valinor is an understatement. “Just call me Finn,” the Maia interjected with a grin, “I’m in disguise.” ROTFL! I love this guy. He cracks me up. Love Derek, too. I think that Derek and Finn would be a bad combination, but a fun one to hang around and eaves drop on in any given situation. LOL You know when I saw the phrase ‘What happens in Edhellond stays in Edhellond', my first thought was to comment that that shoudl have been the title of the chapter. Then I saw that it was and realsied we had already had this conversation many months ago. LOL! This is difficult reading soemthing that was beta-ed months ago. "Unless you all want to have a little chat with the Lord of Mandos, either singly or collectively, I suggest you get with the program," I love it! That threat works really really well on elves. LOL!

Author's reply

Hi Ellie. Daeron is pretty cool and very laid-back about things. Of course, he's one of the oldest among the Elves there, along with Vardamir and Valandur, all three remembering Cuiviénen. Finn and Derek would make a good team, but if they ever did get together, I suspect even the Valar would start running. LOL! And threatening to have a chat with Námo really does work on Elves and probably even some of the Mortals who are acquainted with "Nate". Thanks for taking time out of your busy day to leave a review, Ellie. You know how much I appreciate it.

Kevana · 17 February 2014 · Chapter 15: What Happens in Edhellond Stays in Edhellond

Now I get why you said this chapter would be even better than the last one! I had to stop reading and put my head in my hands to giggle at Derek's comments. *snort* He and Alex are so perfect here. I especially love Derek more and more with each chapter. His personality is coming out in this story and it's great. He could be such a wonderful influence on the Elves if they'd just let him, and Alex too, each in a different way. I suppose it could be hard to believe, unless you know the truth of how Elves are, that somebody that pretty just isn't interested in knockin' the boots with anybody but their own mate. *grin* I doubt the guys gossiping really meant anything harmful by it, that kind of gossip goes on about everybody. But Ron makes an excellent point that while this bit of gossip isn't anything unusual, there's sure to be other rumors far more perilous. I remember especially your mentions in EA2 that some religious folks were claiming the Elves were nephilim (hilarious as Alex and probably a lot of other humans could technically claim that angelic blood relation, whereas most of the Elves can't) or worse, in league with the devil. I completely understand how people might have those fears, especially with the fearmongering that goes on these days about anybody "different," and it's not unjustified that people are freaked about trusting the wrong side. But it's gotta hurt beings who've literally given their lives to stop evil. And I hate to see what happens if/when the Valinor Elves hear that kind of thing. That's the kind of gossip that could drive a horrible dividing line between the Elves and the community. Finn's point about their not respecting one another is truly driven home here. I think Eonwë's undercover name ought to be...Harold. Hark, the Harold Angels Sing. :P Good to know the Maiar are keeping things quiet, though I don't know how long they'll be able to keep that up. Awesome chapter, thanks so much for the update and eager to see what they do in response to all this. Take care, -Kevana

Author's reply

Hi Kevana. Yeah, Derek and Alex are pretty funny here with their comments. They do make a good team. Ron is too right about rumors and it is ironic that the Elves would be accused by some of being fallen angels when they don't have any Maiarin blood in them. Oh well... LOL on Eönwë's undercover name. That's too funny. Harold diAngelo. I love it. *grin* Glad you enjoyed the chapter. More fun to come on Friday. Take care yourself and thanks for the review. I very much appreciate it.

Well that's given everybody something to think about. Words are like feathers in the wind, once they have left your hand they are very hard to catch. Not sure I liked Finn's crack about Mortals dying every day, even if it is true! Huggs, Lynda p.s. Hope you are keeping warm and safe with this crazy weather.

Author's reply

Hi Lynda. You're right about words being like feathers. And Finn is just telling it like it is and isn't saying anything that isn't true. I'm keeping warm enough. Had my tires rechecked over the weekend just to make sure they were okay. So far... Thanks for reviewing. Hope all is well with you. Hugs back.

Legolin · 17 February 2014 · Chapter 15: What Happens in Edhellond Stays in Edhellond

This chapter for all its seriousness, was hilarious. I cannot get over this line: “But you’re not having orgies every night, are you?” Derek asked, his expression deadpan. “Of course, who knows what you really do in those woods behind the house… at night… without any of us Mortals about.” I think I about died in my seat. Tears were welling in my eyes from repressing my emotion. Knowing what I do of Elven relationships and how that would never happen made it all the funnier. Of course the sailor reference was comical as well. I cannot wait till Friday morning to see what happens next! ~Lin

Author's reply

Hey Lin. Derek is pretty funny here for all that the conversation is very serious. And of course, knowing how it is with Elves, it does make his statement even funnier. Friday's chapter should prove interesting as well. Glad you enjoyed today's chapter. Thanks for leaving a review. It's greatly appreciated.

Soledad · 17 February 2014 · Chapter 15: What Happens in Edhellond Stays in Edhellond

Wow, am I first again? Cool! Well, well, well, this was an interesting situation. I'm surprised that Erestor would turn out such an ignorant fool - he ought to have learned in Imladris that Mortals must be taken seriously. Or is it generally the climate of Valinor that lobotomizes the Elves who live there, no matter for how long? Derek is growin on me constantly. I hope he won't have a session with "that Námo dude" any time, soon - it would make him a lot less cheerful for a while. So, Fionwë survived his own chewing-out session and is back, eh? Good to see it. By the way, the conversation of those two men was hilarious. *g*

Author's reply

Hi Soledad. I suspect you're right about the general climate of Valinor lobotomizing the Elves there, even someone like Erestor. Derek is lots of fun. It's interesting that characters like him and Vorondur, who start out as walk-ons (in my mind), end up becoming main characters. I'm sure he's safe from a chat with Námo for a while. *grin* Yes, Fionwë is still around. Glad you found the conversation between the two men at the bar hilarious, as it was meant to be. Thanks for reviewing (and being the first this time around! LOL!). I appreciate it very much.

obsidianj · 15 February 2014 · Chapter 14: The Wiseman Intelligence Agency Meets

And so the lines are being drawn. They all need to check their attitudes at the door. I understand Alex and Finrod both, but they need to work together. Valandur has a different kind of culture shock. He ran into the unspoken assumptions of the society. He just did what he would do at home and nobody would think twice about it, but this is a different culture and a different landscape. He reminded me of the Danish couple in, I think it was New York, that parked their baby in a carriage outside the store when they went shopping because that's how things are done at home. Yay, Gandalf is back. I love it when he shows up and nudges people along.

Author's reply

Yes, obsidianj, unfortunately the lines are indeed being drawn. And you're right about Valandur. He is too new to these shores and too clueless about the realities of life here. He could well have been in danger. I remember that incident you mention. The couple were at a restaurant and had left the baby outside, which is what they would've done back home, but not in NYC. Everyone in America was shocked that they had left the baby outside and everyone in Denmark (and probably most of Europe) was shocked that they'd been arrested for doing so. Culture shock on both sides of the pond. And Gandalf is back, even if only temporarily. Thanks for commenting. It's always appreciated.

obsidianj · 15 February 2014 · Chapter 13: Culture Shock of a Dark Nature

Ouch! That was a culture shock of the worst kind. I don't think you can really prepare for a new culture. Oh, sure the big things, different languages, different political system, you can prepare for, but in my experience culture shock hits you when you least expect it, and it is mostly the minor things, the unspoken assumptions everyone makes about the way things are done. Glorfindel is an idiot here. He should stop and think before saying anything, but that was never his strong point. What kind of day did he have that he was so unfeeling? Sure Finrod freaking out over a book is silly, but Glorfindel will have to apologize and I think, especially the Valinorean elves, will be cautious of him in the future. This is not the first time that he was out of line.

Author's reply

Hi obsidianj. Yes, it's the little things that trip you up with regards to culture shock. You expect and sort of prepare for larger aspects of culture, like language or a political system, but you can never prepare for the minor, unspoken assumptions that everyone takes for granted and no one thinks about. Unfortunately, Finrod has come up against that here. And you're right that Glorfindel is being an idiot. I think he was genuinely concerned about Finrod when he heard that he'd had a psychic meltdown, as Nick called it, and thought something really terrible had happened, and when he finds out Finrod got upset over a piece of fiction, he didn't know how to handle it because for him it was a ridiculous thing to get upset over. Well, we'll see what the consequences of all this will be soon enough. Thanks for reviewing. It's always appreciated.

Dreamflower · 14 February 2014 · Chapter 14: The Wiseman Intelligence Agency Meets

Oh yay! Gandalf is back! *grin* Well, I know he's really Olorin, but I've always thought he liked being Gandalf/Mithrandir better. Well, Finrod is going to need to sort out his reactions to things. Yes, I do believe that over the millennia Morgoth's influence has waxed. But perceptions change as well--and when the reality has been gone for so long, the truth will get it's own interpretations. While I have no love for Twilight and the genre it's spawned, in this case, Finrod would probably have done better to investigate rather than dismiss. He needs to learn the current myths and legends of our culture in order to acclimate to the new world he's found himself in. And Gandalf is back! *happy sigh*

Author's reply

Yes, Gandalf is back, sort of. *grin* I think you might be right about that, Dreamflower. I'm sure Olórin misses being Gandalf/Mithrandir on occasion. And you're right about Finrod, too. He does need to take a deep breath and a step back, as Ron would say, and look at it with a bit more dispassion, but his initial reaction to it all is understandable given his personal history. At any rate, we'll see how it all goes from here. Thanks for reviewing, Dreamflower. It's very much appreciated.

Larner · 14 February 2014 · Chapter 14: The Wiseman Intelligence Agency Meets

An interesting decision to involve Olorin in the situation. Love it!

Author's reply

Glad you approve, Larner. Olórin is the right Maia for the job, that's for sure. Thanks for reviewing. I appreciate it very much.

MJ · 14 February 2014 · Chapter 14: The Wiseman Intelligence Agency Meets

I was beginning to wonder if all those years that have gone by since the Third Age have made the Valar forget that they have a unique "resource," if you will, in Olórin, as he has a perspective about Mortals and mortality not shared by any other still-extant Maia (that we know of, anyway. And okay, everyone knows that he happens to be my favorite character, so I will never complain about seeing him pop up in stories I happen to be enjoying, anyway). I can well imagine that he's been trying to nudge a few memories and not meeting with much success, lol. (”Ah, Lord Manwë...?" "Not now, Olórin, we're busy trying to solve this problem with Elf/Mortal relations in Wiseman....") But kidding aside, it's good to see him back in business. Excellent job, as always.

Author's reply

Olórin is everyone's favorite Maia, I think, especially in his Gandalf persona, so having him "infiltrate" the mortal community just makes good sense. Glad you enjoyed the chapter, MJ. Thanks for letting me know. I really appreciate it.

Kevana · 14 February 2014 · Chapter 14: The Wiseman Intelligence Agency Meets

Quite a nice tangle you've woven Our Heroes, Fiondil. Can't wait to see where threads start fraying. *evil cackle* Lots of interesting things in this chapter! Alex..you know, his reaction does not read solely like ego to me, but fear of rejection. It's hurt followed by anger and not the other way around. Hehe, Derek, I see you trying to clean up your language, sailor. I prefer seeing them deal with their own problems, but in this case a little divine intervention might be welcome. Hoping Fionwë's got a few cards up his sleeve for dealing with the Intelligence Agency the way Olórin has for the Mortals of Wiseman, as it doesn't sound like he's quite done with them here. Also, it sounds like Olórin looks like somebody's grandfather and I want to hug him. *grin* Speaking of hugs, that awkward moment between Finrod and Nick was just a tad heartbreaking. For Finrod because he wants to help so badly but is just realizing he has to relearn everything he thought he knew about Mortals; and Nick because frankly wouldn't that startle reaction be how anybody, male or female, would react to getting randomly hugged, even though an Elf would probably accept comfort? It's very realistically portraying how jumpy people, Americans at least, are about protecting themselves. That said, Nick's wonderful and I love seeing more of him here. Valandur! Oh, sweetie, take a phone with you. Heaven help them all if he gets hurt and Findis finds out. She'd steal Vingilot to come get him and her arrival would make the Dagor Dagorath look tame. And on to the main event, Glorfindel vs. Finrod, ring the bell for the start of the round. Hoo, boy. The Valinor Elves backing Finrod, the Wiseman Elves and probably the Academy Mortals backing Glorfindel, and Finrod and Glorfindel trying to get them all to simmer down! Someone ought to handcuff those two together and toss them into the woods for a few months, far, far away from Wiseman, for their own good as well as the good of the others. (Hey, it worked for Eru in EI/EI2. *grin*) No really, what Glorfindel needs is a good second in command and Finrod needs someone who'll listen to him nonjudgmentally, just my two cents. Sounds like Linda and Eric are in for it. I had a thought that there's an entirely different perspective to the whole vampire/werewolf fiction thing. In a way you might say that it's typical of Men to take something that was once feared, reclaim it, put their own spin on it, and thus destroy any power or fear it once had. It's a metamorphosis, a taking control of sorts. In that respect, Finrod might actually have it backwards here. That it's not a sign of submission to evil, but a triumph over fear. (Still not a fan of Twilight, LOL.) Anyway, great chapter as we get deeper into the story, can't wait for Monday and what comes next. Thanks and stay warm, and Happy Valentine's Day to you and everyone! -Kevana

Author's reply

Hi Kevana. If you think this chapter is a doozy, just wait until Monday's chapter. LOL! You're right about Alex and how he's operating. He is hurt and the hurt fuels the anger and not the other way around. We'll see this even more in the mext chapter. I like your analysis of the moment between Finrod and Nick. In our homophobic society it's difficult for men to simply express honest emotion without being suspect. And that suspicion cripples us men from being able offer appropriate responses to emotional situations. As for Finrod and Glorfindel... what can I say? You'll just have to wait and see how they handle this entire mess. And your analysis of the whole vampire/werewolf thing is certainly intriguing and I can see where you're going with it. You may well be right. We tend to combat our fears by attempting to trivialize them. Anyway, I'm glad you enjoyed this chapter so much. Happy Valentine's Day to you as well and thanks for reviewing. It's always appreciated.

Soledad · 14 February 2014 · Chapter 14: The Wiseman Intelligence Agency Meets

Yay! Gandalf is in business again (and not a moment too soon, I'd say. Loved his "updated" look. Still the Grey, eh? It's good to see Alex again. Hét doesn't take any crap from the Elves, and they definitely need someone who tells them the hard truth. Especially the Valinórean ones.

Author's reply

Yep. Gandalf's back in a new, updated look for the 21st century. I think he will always think of himself as the Grey, he was that for so long compared to the time he was the White. And Alex is not impressed by the Elves and isn't afraid to call them on the carpet when they do something stupid as Val was doing walking alone in the wilderness on the way to Nolan. Whether they know it or not, the Elves, especially the Valinórean Elves, need someone like Alex to give it to them straight. Thanks for your review, Soledad. They're always welcomed.

Lyana · 14 February 2014 · Chapter 14: The Wiseman Intelligence Agency Meets

Yay - Olórin! Hmmm... now for a name for this time and place; I think Mr. Oliver Grey would work nicely. :-) Ai - they're all in such a tough place, and Ron is exactly right that it's not just the Elves who need to check attitudes at the door. Glorfi needs to get talking, or he's going to explode in a spectacular way. Here's hoping their anger management class doesn't end up with them Finrod and Glorfindel in another dimension...

Author's reply

Hey, I like that. Oliver Grey. It suits him. LOL! They are indeed in a tough place, but hopefully they will find their way out of it without leveling half the town. We'll have to see. Thanks for your comment, Lyana. It's much appreciated.

Hm, I think things are about to get a little messy! Huggs, Lynda

Author's reply

You're right, Lynda, they are. We'll see how messy in the next chapter. Thanks for reviewing. Hugs back.

Monalex · 14 February 2014 · Chapter 14: The Wiseman Intelligence Agency Meets

Hello Fiondil! And another review that starts with: Poor Glorfindel! I feel that soon he will find himself without friends and it's not fair that they treat someone with their best interests at heart this way. I hope he will have some elves supporting him... at least the Wiseman Elves, otherwise I will feel pretty badly for him. Being thrown aside as an "enemy" simply because he did not share Finrod's point of view, when it is clear that no one has taken the time to see his. So my solution is, that this "intelligence agency" trick Glorfindel and Finrod into a room which will conveniently close in on them, then wait until they air out their differences and apologise to each other. It would be good that they talk about their problems, stresses and responsibilities, to better understand where the other is coming from (Finrod emotionally depressed and suffering cultural shock and Glorfindel stressed from his responsibilities and alones) I mean their "brothers", siblings always fight, doesn't mean we don't love each other though. Love that Olorin will play a part! Just what we need... someone to calm the waters with the mortals, so all the good work the Wiseman elves have made is not lost while in this misunderstanding. Now we know what Lord Manwe meant by "beware the enemy within", at least one explanation, it can apply to many other scenarios. Love the story as always! Monalex

Author's reply

Hi Monalex. Well your solution certainly has merits, but I'm afraid it isn't in the cards this go around. You'll have to wait and see how it all turns out in the next chapter. Some hard truths will be driven home to a lot of people. And the "enemy within" can take so many different forms that if you're not paying attention you might not realize what is happening. We will see this even more so as the story progresses. Thanks for leaving a review. I appreciate you doing so very much.

Sunny · 14 February 2014 · Chapter 14: The Wiseman Intelligence Agency Meets

You should calm down, Nick - Finrod isn't interested in you in _that_ way! ;-) It doesn't take much for the gossip mill to start, and I guess that would be true even in Aman. The doings of any of the Elves would be excellent gossip fodder, but Glorfindel and Finrod most of all. A bit of thought would have made that very clear to anybody, so Erestor defintely should have engaged his brain before opening his mouth. Alex and Derek have some very good points here, hope the Elves are willing to take them seriously, and not just dismiss their concerns just because they are Mortals. I do think that Amroth and Vorondur, at least, are listening, and hopefully the reprimand Valandur got has woken him up to the fact that, no, he's not in Kansas - or Valinor - anymore. (And Fiondil, that was one truly GREAT reprimand!) Hye! It looks as if Gandalf the Grey is back, but in a 21-century version!

Author's reply

Hi Sunny. I'm sure Nick will realize that Finrod doesn't mean anything by it and he's loosen up. Glad you liked the reprimand. It needed to be said and Alex is the one to say it. We'll see how seriously the Elves take Alex and Derek. The Wiseman Elves, I think, will have no problem listening to what they have to say; the Valinórean Elves may be a different matter. Valandur is a smart cookie, and certainly smarter than most, so I think he'll get with the program. And even wizards have to upgrade their image every once in a while. *grin* Thanks for leaving a comment. It's always appreciated.

UTfrog · 14 February 2014 · Chapter 14: The Wiseman Intelligence Agency Meets

Underestimating mortals is a problem the elves have yet to overcome. I am thrilled that Olorin is on the job. Thanks

Author's reply

That's for sure, UTfrog. We'll see how successful they are at it. I'm glad you are thrilled that Olórin is on the job. He knows how to get things done and having lived in Middle-earth and interacted with both Mortals and Elves, he is the best Maia for it. Thanks for reviewing. It's much appreciated.

Laer · 14 February 2014 · Chapter 14: The Wiseman Intelligence Agency Meets

Gandalf! I would love him to come and visit me. :) Elves, I would be ok meeting one, until I looked in their eyes. Then I would more than likely be insane...wait...I already am. Ok freaked out. I always thought that once you looked into their eyes you couldn't help but see the stars; and for the older elves, the two trees. But I am rambling. I wondered if these altercations might not cause issues with the mortals and the elves. How dare the elves act..well, human. Stress of being almost killed (again), of almost getting "children" killed, in such a foreign place, so far from loved ones...they should still be perfect. Like all the fan fiction makes them out to be. But not the child molesting (Legolas with a teenager, Loren with a teenager...you get it). They look perfect so they should be perfect. siiigggghhh. Guess we all need a guiding light of some kind. Maybe two?

Author's reply

We do indeed all need a guiding light of some kine, Laer. We'll see how things work out for the Elves and their Mortal friends as the story progresses. Thanks for leaving a comment. It's much appreciated.

Sarah · 14 February 2014 · Chapter 14: The Wiseman Intelligence Agency Meets

*suddenly realizes why Lindorillë's name looked so familiar* Honestly, I think I need to print out your Character lists and keep them by me when I read this. I'm astonished by the number of little em, "nods" you have to your other stories (and I love them). Poor Finrod, still having trouble with Mortal fiction. I was never terribly fond of 'Vampiric/Werewolf' fiction myself, whether they sparkled or not :-) This "series" Nick mentions wouldn't happen to have a real-world counterpart, would it? While my Tolkien brain immediately thought of Aegnor & Andreth, I was also reminded somewhat of Tam Lin, or what little I remember of it. Oh no, this is going to eat at me until i figure it out, I just know it. Sidenote concerning previous chapters: All of my Briggs nerd friends were very excited when I told them that you intended to type some of their most beloved characters. One of them actually shares a type with Valandur, and they are remarkably similar in interests and in terms of their chosen field of study. It's actually a little weird. Anyway, when I read about his ahem...expedition..to Nolan I couldn't help but laugh, since it rang so true for what I've observed of my friend as well. I might have even convinced her to make her way through your stories. :-) Happy Friday!

Author's reply

Hi Sarah. Cool about your friend sharing a type with Valandur and being very similar to him in many ways. That does seem a little weird, but it just shows how accurate these types are. And if your friend actually does take a look at my stories, maybe she will enjoy them as much as you do. *grin* Anyway, the series Nick mentions, though he gets the premise somewhat wrong, is Barbara Ashford's Crossroads series. So far there are two books out: "Spellcast" and "Spellcrossed". They're lots of fun and I enjoyed them very much. Thanks for leaving a review. It's very much appreciated.

Monalex · 11 February 2014 · Chapter 13: Culture Shock of a Dark Nature

Hello! I do have to agree with Glorfindel, to be so worked up over a book? They should be worried over the surplus in weapons invested by each countries government, all the petty wars being held now, social inequality, inaccessibility to education, the economical recession of the world or the globally infected infants and adults with AIDS. Don’t get me wrong, I understand Finrod’s point of view, how could our society think it is normal or natural to have sexual fantasies with werewolves and/or vampires? This is something I have never understood, but as Glorfindel told him, this is just fantasy and these creatures are portrayed differently from the real thing from his past. I know that Glorfindel’s reaction was not good to say the least, I mean there is such a word as ABSTAINING in sharing what we are thinking, but it seems to me that he has nearly everyone of the Valinorean Elves regarding him with suspicion and a little mistrust. Everyone is so concerned with Finrod’s tender feelings - and it is a valid concern - but I don’t see anyone other than Vorondur and maybe the Wiseman Elves worried for Glorfindel. I mean poor ellon! It’s got to be hard dealing with all this changes in what I’m sure feels like the blink of an eye to him, even though this has been in the work for over two years. He has to deal with being dependable to all this new personalities, prepare this new elves to the realities of the mortal world, the management of the University, hiding or camouflaging their real identities from further scrutiny, prepare the mortals for the Dagor Dagorath, prepare HIMSELF for the Dagor Dagorath and on top of all that still be himself. To me, he - more than anyone else – is in dire need of a long extended vacation, where he can relax as he has not been able to do for a very long time. Concerning Finrod’s emotions I make allowances for his reaction, because of the manner of his death and because as Vorondur said it IS an extreme culture shock for him and everyone else from Valinor. Also he was recently shot and nearly died from a weapon he didn’t even know could exist, imagine what he will think of the atomic bombs! The worst weapons EVER created and not an honourable way to conduct war... although is there an honourable way to behave or act in war? These elves from Valinor have to start to understand that they are no longer lords, princes or kings to the mortals, they are in a mortal world and it is time they start to adapt to it and not expect it to be the other way around. I’m referring to what appears to be continuous disregard to the new mortal weapons and their continued chastisement of mortals, particularly Alex for bringing to their attention his concerns regarding certain behaviours and/or actions of some elves, because they could be dangerous to everyone! They need a reality check and soon! It will not do to always remind the mortals of who and what they are, and even laughingly try to impose their will, like Finrod with Nick in the library. This could lead to misunderstandings and jealousies of their immortality, if they continue to shout it over the rooftops every chance they get with their “friends”. Finally I hope Glorfindel just gets so fed up with everyone else that he decides on his own to take a vacation for an indefinite period of time, and then we will see how they deal with all his responsibilities and concerns! Maybe that will teach everyone to appreciate him more and be more understanding! Sorry for the rant, but I do love Glorfindel! :) Love your story as always! Monalex

Author's reply

Hi Monalex. Whew! What a review and very well thought out. I totally agree with your assessment of Glorfindel. The poor guy is hanging by a thread that's about to break and no one apparently is going to be there to catch him when he falls. At the same time, Finrod is also still dealing with a lot of issues he never thought he would have to deal with and that's not helping. As we will see soon enough, things are about to spiral out of control and in a direction none of the Elves anticipated. Fun times in Wiseman! *LOL!* Anyway, I'm glad you are enjoying the story. Thanks for taking the time to leave a wonderful review. It's appreciated very much.

Larner · 11 February 2014 · Chapter 13: Culture Shock of a Dark Nature

I can appreciate Finrod's reaction, believe me! I don't particularly like the genre, either, and have not been impressed by what I've learned of the Twilight series or its author, who apparently feels she and her family deserve more consideration than anyone else simply because her books are popular. She was unutterably rude to a friend of mine just after her son hit my friend with their car. Finrod has reason to react as he did, and Glorfindel does need to respect Finrod's sensibilities!

Hi Larner. As I said, I've never read the Twilight series or saw the movies and have no intention of doing so. I have read some other types of paranormal romances that had nothing to do with vampires or werewolves and were written for adults and not teens and were very good, IMO, but that being said, I think the genre itself is a bit overblown. Finrod, given his history, has every right to feel as he does, and Glorfindel needs to get a clue. We'll just have to see what the fallout is from this. Thanks for reviewing. It's always appreciated.

you know I have to agree with Finrod. I did read the series because of my grandkids. I was amazed that it made it to a movie...I was further amazed that she tried to rewrite it only from Edwards point of view and that people actually wanted it. Sorry..But they do NOT sparkle and they drink blood. And I am allergic to animals, so no to the werewolves in the house also... Wow, Loren needs to calm him self down. That was rather rude of him to act like that to his brother. :/

Hi Laer. Never read Twilight or any of the books like it. I have read a couple of paranormal romances but neither one had werewolves or vampires or anything like that and the stories were well written and quite adult without necessarily being excuses for writing sex scenes. And Loren is suffering from a lot of stuff getting thrown at him at once and tying to hold the center on his own. We will see what happens because of his lack of concern for Finrod's feelings. Thanks for commenting. It's much appreciated.

"Camouflage." ROFL!!! Oh, and great chapter, as always. We now see how the plot begins to thicken. :)

It is a funny response, isn't it? And yes, the plot begins to thicken. Thanks for reading and reviewing, MJ. I appreciate it very much.

You are evil. Seriously, you are! I will never be able to delete the mental image of Vairë reading Twilight (or any other incessant crap) from my mind. And Glorfindel is being a .... (insert swear word of choice here). What is his problem anyway? I don't envy Vorondur. He'll have his word cut out for hím, the poor Elf.

Yes, Soledad, I am. LOL! And that's a image that will haunt many a reader for years to come, I have no doubt. *evil smirk* And Glorfindel is indeed being whatever scatological term you care to use. Ron, I suspect, for all his griping, is in seventh heaven with all the personalities for him to play with. LOL! Thanks for leaving a comment. It's always welcomed.
